4 <br /> Environmental Oversight Committee <br /> Minutes <br /> April 10, 2008 <br /> NEW BUSINESS: <br /> Mashpee High School Environmental Club/Tom Hoppenstead: <br /> (continued) <br /> The EOC was very supportive of the Environmental Club and their <br /> successful actions. Recommendations made by the EOC for the <br /> Environmental Club is consideration to include monitoring of illegal <br /> dumping at environmentally sensitive areas, and collaborating data with <br /> the Environmental Oversight Committee. The Shellfish Constable agreed <br /> to meet with the MHS Club to discuss potential monitoring programs. <br /> The high school students were also encouraged to reach out to the <br /> Mashpee Water District as a resource on water quality issues. <br /> It was noted the Conservation Agent is seeping volunteers to participate in <br /> the clean-up of John's Pond. The event is scheduled on Saturday, April <br /> 19th in cooperation with the Cape Cod Jeep Club. <br /> The newly formed Land Stewards program was also discussed. It was <br /> noted that a member of the NMS Environmental CIub is a steward <br /> coordinator of Parcel 1. <br /> It was also suggested the students continue their fundraising and <br /> awareness efforts at the Family Picnic in July. <br /> It was agreed the EOC would forward relevant information regarding <br /> projects the Environmental Club might want to consider. Information <br /> relative to bio-remediation was disseminated to the Club. <br />
