5
Environmental Oversight Committee
Minutes
April 10, 2008
NEW BUSINESS:
Santuit Pond Water Quality RFP:
Discussion followed regarding the need for a Request for Proposal in
concern of the algae/phosphorus problem in Santuit Pond. It was agreed
the Cape Cod Commission(CCC)would be consulted regarding their
assistance in developing the RFP.
The draft scope of work relative to the Water Quality Assessment of
Santuit Pond as prepared by the CCC was deemed a proposal to help
address the concerns. The information prepared by Mr. Eichner detailed
the following scope; to complete a water and phosphorus budget, review
the historic water quality data and develop a citizen-monitoring program
to collect water quality data.
It was agreed that Mr. Baker would work with Mr. York to consider a
scope of services for the RFP. The use of the scientific community to
assist in the identification and remediation of the problem was also given
strong consideration. Proposals based upon actual measurements or
conditions would describe the source of nutrient/sediment interactions to
give information to assist in the elimination of the external sources of
phosphorus entering the pond.
The matter will appear as an agenda topic at the next meeting.
