MASHPEE SCHOOL COMMITTEE.— REGULAR MEETING - APRIL 5, 2000 PAGE <br /> will be held in the gymnasium. The custodial and maintenance <br /> departments will assist in the set--up at either location. <br /> 7.5 FY2000 Budget Review --- Mr. McGowrl has met with the <br /> principals to discuss their individual needs. <br /> 7.6 Unit B Contract- Mr. Fluery said there would be no action <br /> on this until the Unit A contract is signed. <br /> 7.7 Out of School Sunsions -- Mr-. Brown reported a total of <br /> 59 students were assigned to four Saturday School sessions during <br /> March. 'Total suspensions were 39 for the month. <br /> 7.8 High School Graduation - Mr. Brown updated the <br /> Committee on the latest activities of this committee. The "finishing <br /> touches" are being placed on this event. Graduation will be held <br /> on Saturday, June 10th. <br /> Motion made by Mrs. Cooly seconded by Mrs. Mills, to conduct the <br /> Class of 2000 High School Graduation outdoors as presented. <br /> NOTE: Unanimous <br /> 7.9 Proposal from Independence House - Mr. Brown presented <br /> proposal from Independence Douse which would provide an <br /> Outreach Advocate to Mashpee High School. The Child- Study <br /> Team believes that the presence of the outreach Advocate from <br /> Independence House will aide in providing a safe school <br /> environment, offer students the opportunity to discuss issues <br /> occurring in their lives that they would not discuss with their <br /> guidance counselor and assist students in learning where they <br /> might receive help for personal problems. There would be no cost <br /> to Mashpee Public Schools for this.service. <br /> Motion made by Mrs. Mills, seconded by M . Macdonald, to <br /> approve the proposal from Independence House. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous <br /> 7.10 - English Languageg Arts Revision - Scope & Seguence K-12 <br /> This item was discussed and approved earlier in the evening. <br /> 7.11 2000-2001 School calendar Mr. Fluery informed the <br /> Committee of some charges made today, however, Mashpee <br /> hpee <br /> Teachers" Association President Kathy Smola asked to bring the <br /> revised calendar to the Teachers' Association for discussion prior to <br /> a School Committee vote. Mrs. Lynch agreed. <br /> 7.12 School Choice 2000-2001 - Motion made 1y Mrs. cool, <br /> seconded by Mrs. Mills, to not participate in School choice for the <br /> 2000-2001 school year. - <br /> VO TE: Unanimous <br />
