Discussion followed with Mrs. Cook suggesting this issue be discussed with the Tribal Council. Mrs. Mills recommended this type of position in the elementary grades as well. After more discussion, it was decided that Mr. Brown will discuss further with Mr. Flury. 8.2 Food Service Update—Financial Fe ort . .1 Update — Food Service Bid — Privatized or In-House — Mr. Tarlov gave a presentation which promoted the concept of having an in-house food service program. In his discussion, Mr. Tarlow listed the following goals for an in-house program: • To ensure that all children have access to a healthy breakfast to promote learning readiness and healthy eating behaviors • To ensure that all children have access to nutritious lunches and the opportunity to practice skills learned in elassroorn nutrition education • To provide at child-friendly dining room that is a learning lab for practicing nutrition education learned in the classroom with adequate time for students to eat,relax, and socialize;thus enhancing the school climate and the progression toward educational goals. • To provide healthy meals and snacks to attract children into after-school ' and summer programs that are safe,fun and filled with learning opportunities.
