Discussion followed with Mrs. Cook suggesting this <br /> issue be discussed with the Tribal Council. Mrs. Mills recommended this type of <br /> position in the elementary grades as well. After more discussion, it was decided that <br /> Mr. Brown will discuss further with Mr. Flury. <br /> 8.2 Food Service Update—Financial Fe ort <br /> . .1 Update — Food Service Bid — Privatized or In-House — Mr. Tarlov gave a <br /> presentation which promoted the concept of having an in-house food service program. <br /> In his discussion, Mr. Tarlow listed the following goals for an in-house program: <br /> • To ensure that all children have access to a healthy breakfast to promote <br /> learning readiness and healthy eating behaviors <br /> • To ensure that all children have access to nutritious lunches and the <br /> opportunity to practice skills learned in elassroorn nutrition education <br /> • To provide at child-friendly dining room that is a learning lab for <br /> practicing nutrition education learned in the classroom with adequate time <br /> for students to eat,relax, and socialize;thus enhancing the school climate <br /> and the progression toward educational goals. <br /> • To provide healthy meals and snacks to attract children into after-school <br />' and summer programs that are safe,fun and filled with learning <br /> opportunities. <br />
