MASHPEE SCHOOL COMMITTEE—REGULAR MEETING—SEPTEMBER 12, 2001 PAGE <br /> Mr. Fluery stressed the importance of all households returning the free and reduced <br /> lunch forms whether the family applies for it or not. Every family will be contacted for <br /> their response as grant funding is at stake. <br /> Also, it was noted that the student lunch price dropped from $1.75 to 51.70. <br /> 8.1' Administrative Reports—Included in the packet were the monthly reports <br /> from the administrators. - <br /> .4 FY2001 Financial Review—End of Year—Mr.Tarlow reported that FYO 1 <br /> closed with a remaining balance of . .3, open pureha�se orders totaled$ , . 41 and <br /> grants are in the process of being closed out with a potential return f approximately <br /> $25,000 to be returned to the Commonwealth. <br /> Also, Mr. Tarlow reported that a final reconciliation of the general fund accounts <br /> between the school and town accounting system is being conducted. <br /> 8.5 FY2002 Financial Review — Mr. Tarlow reported a number of items he is <br /> currently working on. They included; 1 review of the special education tuition-out <br /> accounts and it appears there are sufficient funds in the separate appropriation to cover <br /> projected tuition expenses; '? a few small budget issues need to be dealt with; and <br /> staffing costs remain within the budget for the new and replacement positions. <br /> 8.5.1 Soffivare — Town Meetincr warrant Article — Mr. Tarlow said an article has <br /> been placed on the October Town Meeting warrant to provide $400,000 to replace the <br /> financial management systems town-wide including the school department. He will <br /> work with the Town Accountant to establish an integrated chart of accounts that meet <br /> both the Department of Revenue and Department of Education reporting requirements. <br /> In the meantime, an interim pian that will enable the school department to establish <br /> financial controls until the town-wide system is up and running. <br /> 8.6 Coombs and, Quashnet._Schools'_Authorization to. Establish,School„Activit <br /> Accounts—Mr. Tarlow explained the elementary schools, as provided by Chapter 66 of <br /> the Acts of 1996, wish to establish school activity accounts. He recommended that <br /> checks over S1,000 would also require the co-signature of the Superintendent or <br /> Business Administrator. <br /> Motion made by Mrs. Mills, seconded by Mr. Caswell, to authorize the Town Treasurer <br /> to establish a checking account for the Coombs School and Quashnet School under the <br /> signature of the Principal. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous <br /> Motion made by Mr. Caswell, seconded by Mrs. Mills, to establish a ceiling of$.x,000 <br /> in the checkincr accounts at ars one time. <br /> Z; <br /> VOTE: Unanimous <br /> 3.7 Grant Update — Mr. Tarlow reported on grant status and hiring of personnel <br /> funded d by Grants. <br /> 8.7.1 [ inderc arten.Assistants - Mrs. Patricia Par is i addressed the Committee on <br /> the need to hire four kinderorarten teaching assistants to be funded by a Quality Full- <br /> Dav Kindercyarten grant at a cast of 556,000. This funding is contingent upon the <br /> passage of the budget. <br />
