T.
MASHPEE SCHOOL COMMITTEE—REGULAR MEETING—OCTOBER 3,2001 PAGE 2
VII. Student Advisory Kyle Hunt indicated that"block scheduling"is an effective
Council approach to the scheduling of classes. As a result, the cafeteria is less
crowed and there are reduced lines. Mr.Hunt suggested that the
students be allowed to give input to the variety of foods offered.A
student representative to serve on the school lunch committee was
considered. It was noted that added improvements to the food service
will begin after the Columbus Day holiday. There are plans to create a
food court to serve express type food and to improve upon the overall
food items being offered. In addition, vending will be expanded to
provide limited after school food services. It was noted that Mr. Scott
is responsive and would welcome input from the students regarding the
school lunch program.
Mr.Hunt also recommended that the school consider the employment
of an in-house and full-time athletic train. One trainer without
variation with offer more dedicated hours and would prove beneficial
to the athletes. The position is presently offered by Ackland Sports
Medicine. The matter was considered and will be forwarded to Mike
Horne and Ira Brown for additional review.
Mr.Hunt also noted that overall the school year has been off to a good
start.
