4 <br /> MAS PEE SCHOOL COMMITTEE <br /> SPECIAL MEETING <br /> JUNE � 2002 <br /> Minutes <br /> Attendees: Chairman Janice Mills, Peter Thomas, Mollie leis, and D nnaJ an Lopez. Ben Caswell was <br /> absent this evening. Also in attendance were Superintendent ofSchools Sherwood Fluery and Business <br /> Administrator Michael Tarlw. <br /> I. Cali Hating to Order — Mrs. Mill called the special meeting to order at 6:09 p.m. in the <br /> Quashnet School Library. <br /> 111. FY02 Budget Transfers—lir. Tarlow requested the following FY02 budget transfers: <br /> 02-015 - 19,550.13 <br /> 0 -014 - $801450.70 <br /> Mr. Tarlw stated the above transfers are funds within the budget centers t0 talo care ofdeficits <br /> within those budget centers. <br /> Mr. Tarlow then requested the following additional FY02 transfers stating these are transfers <br /> from available funds from various budget centers to offset the special education tuition deficit. <br /> Them will new be a zerobalance. <br /> 02-016 - $11) 0. 5 <br /> 02-01 - $609834.54 <br /> Motion made by Mrs. Lopez,, seconded by Mrs. leis,to approve the above transfers. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous <br /> H. FY02 Budget Review—Mr. Fluery asked Mr. Tarl w with the above transfers in place,where d <br /> we stand with the FY02 budget? Mr. Tarl w responded, "we still are very close to a zero <br /> balance at the end Of the fiscal year." He said perhaps there is a $20,000 deficit but h "has a <br /> plan in mind to cover in case of a worse case scenario. He said, "we still have $250,000 <br /> encumbered" and h "does not expect that all $250,000 is going to be spent based on invoices <br /> projected to be received in the office between now and the end of June." Mr. Tarl w said he <br /> "still remains cautiously optimistic that we wi11 not have a problem elosing the fiseal year. <br /> Mr. Tarlw then discussed the current problems with the computer in the office with the <br /> connection to Town Hall. Because of the fiscal year close Out and the On-going computer <br /> problems, Mr. Tarlow spoke to Town Accountant Diane Rommelemeyer who extended the close <br /> out day"four or five days." Mr. Tarlow said h "'does not anticipate any problems." <br />
