MASHPEE SCHOOL COMMITTEE <br /> • FINANCE MEETING AND FY04 BUDGET PUBLIC HEARING <br /> JUNE 26, 2003 <br /> Minutes <br /> Attendees: Chairman Peter Thomas, Theresa Cook, DonnaJean Lopez, Janice Mills, and Mollie Reis. Also in <br /> attendance were Superintendent of Schools Patricia Parolski and Business Office Supervisor Ellen Ferguson. <br /> 1. Call Meeting to Order—Mr. Thomas called the finance meeting to order at 6:34 p.m. in the Mashpee <br /> High School Library. <br /> 2. Executive Session — Motion made by Mrs. Cook, seconded by Mrs. Lopez, to move into executive <br /> session at 6:35 p.m.for the purpose of personnel and negotiations. <br /> Roll Call Vote: In favor—Mr. Thomas, Mrs. Cook, Mrs. Lopez, Mrs. Mills, and Mrs. Reis; opposed— <br /> none. <br /> The finance meeting reconvened at 7:01 p.m. <br /> Mr. Thomas acknowledged the passing of Dr. Elizabeth Petti, a long-time School Committee member <br /> who served on various town-wide committees throughout her career. Mr. Thomas called for a moment <br /> of silence in recognition of Dr. Petti. <br /> • 3. Administrator of Special Education — Due to Grace Day's retirement this year, Mrs. Parolski formed <br /> a screening committee to hire a replacement. After consideration of several candidates, Mrs. Parolski <br /> recommended Jane Beaudin as the new Administrator of Special Education for the Mashpee Public <br /> Schools. <br /> Motion made by Mrs. Cook, seconded by Mrs. Lopez, to appoint Jane Beaudin as Mashpee's new <br /> Administrator of Special Education effective July 1, 2003. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous <br /> 4. Boch Center for the Performing Arts Request from T. K. Thompson — Mr. Thompson met with <br /> Brad Tripp, School Facilities Supervisor, to propose signage at the high school for their upcoming <br /> events. Mr. Tripp said there would be two banners tied up between two major poles in front of the high <br /> school. Any vandalism would be the Boch Center's responsibility. <br /> Mrs. Reis, who serves as one of the Boch Center's directors, said she was very appreciative of the <br /> cooperation received from the school department. Mr. Tripp said he saw no problem with assisting the <br /> Boch Center and their needs. <br /> 5. FY04 Budget Public Hearing—See attached minutes. <br /> 6. FY03 Budget—Mrs. Ferguson addressed the Committee regarding the FY03 budget. <br /> • <br />
