fly <br /> MASHPEE SCHOOL COMMITTEE <br /> JOINT MEETING--SCHOOL COMMITTEE AND SCHOOL COUNCILS <br /> FY BUDGET) <br /> JANUARY 21, 2004 <br /> Minutes <br /> Attendees: Vice Chairman Theresa Cook, D nnaJean Lopez, and Mollie Reis. Unable to attend this <br /> evening were Chairman Peter Thomas and Janice Mills. Also in attendance were Superintendent of <br /> Schools Patricia ParoIA1 and Business Office Supervisor Ellen Ferguson. <br /> Call Meeting to Order—Mrs. Cook called the Joint Meet between the School Committee and <br /> the School Councils to order at 5:13 p.m. Tonight's focus was discussion of the FY05 between <br /> the School Committee and the School Councils. <br /> Mrs. Cooly asked the High School Council to male their presentation. High School Principal Ira <br /> Brown introduced his committee — Housemasters Lou Ann St. Cyr, Steve Rabbit, and Greg <br /> Moore; teachers Nancy Schroeder, Susan Curtis, Chris Perkins,and Gary Jan uIewae ; community <br /> members/parents Nancy Carter and Shelley B o uth i I lette. <br /> Mr. Brown read aloud the High School Council's proposed instructional and staffing budget for <br /> FY05. Mr. Brown predicts neat year Grade 11 will see a 27% increase in enrollment from the <br /> 2003-2004 figures. Therefore,Grade 1 I will have 167 students. Their needs will be: <br /> • increased staffing for wrath, s'ciente, social studies, foreign language and electives. <br /> more supplies to maintain what is currently being used. <br /> Also, currently there are three curricular areas undergoing revisions. Due to these revisions, the <br /> following materials are necessary: <br /> • History textbooks <br /> • Family and Consumer Science textbooks <br /> s <br /> • supplies for Pro-Start,a school-to-career course in Family and Con snrer Science <br /> • textbooks for Pro-Start <br /> Also, as part of the Initial Accreditation from the New England Association of Schools and <br /> Colleges, recommendations in the high school that need to be addressed include the development <br /> of a plan to address the needs of replacing equipment in curricular areas such as Art, Music, <br /> Technology and Consumer Science. Therefore, in a pro-active mode from members of <br /> Technology Education and Consumer Science, the following are needed based upon safety <br /> concerns: <br /> • a planer <br /> 0 a miter saw <br /> one safety guard for the table save <br /> • in food, with equipment aging,replacement for stoves and refrigerators <br />
