t ? 1 ASHPEE SCHOOL COMMITTEE I SCHOOL COMMITTEE REORGANIZATION/FINANCE MEETING MAY 18, 2005 Minutes Attendees: Janice Mills, Peter Thomas, Mollie Reis, and newly--elected member MaryRose Grady. Due to Theresa Cook's election to the Board of Selectmen,the fifth member of the School Committee will be appointed soon. Also in attendance were Superintendent of Schools Patricia. Parolski and Business Administrator Peter Thomas. I. Meeting Called Chairman Pro Tem Mrs. Parolsl i called the meeting to order at p.m. to Order in the Quashtlet School Library. II. School Committee Mrs. Parolsl i asked for nominations as Chairman for the 2005-2006 Organization school year. .1 Election of Chair—1 lotion made by Mr. Thomas,seconded b Mrs. leis,to nominate Mrs. Mills as Chairman for the 2005-2006 school year. VOTE: Unanimous .2 Electron of Vice Chalr—Motion made by Mrs. Reis, seconded by Mrs. Mill ,to nominate Mr. Thomas as Vice Chair. VOTE: Unanimous 2.3 Election of Secretary—Motion made by Ir . Mills, seconded b Mr. Thomas,to nominate Mrs. Deis as Secretary. VOTE: Unanimous 4 Due to the lacy of a fifth School Committee member,, it was decided to fill the"Committee Assignments"at the June meeting. Mrs. Mills welcomed newly-election member Mary o e Grady to the Committee. Also, Mrs. Mills announced the vacancy is opened until May 1" for any interested Mashpee resident to apply to be the fifth member. Mrs. Mills asked to move up IX, "Community Picnic" and "Leisure Services — Application for Use of School Facilities' as Mr. Frederick was in the audience. The Committee agreed. Ix. Community Picnic Leisure Services Director Gus Frederick and Mr. Thomas addressed the Committee regarding Fire Chief GeorgeBaker's -request to possibly move the annual Community Picnic and fireworks display from Heritage Park on Route 130 to Mashpee High School. This event would take place on Friday,July I".
