Mashpee School Committee-Regular Meeting-September 7, 2005 Page Five <br /> .8 Karen Cam — ...No Child Left Behln "Act- Karen Camp introduced the NCLB <br /> Executive Commitee members being Mary Russell, Jeanne Cannon Barbara Kashar and <br /> herself. The request was for the Mashpee School Comn-fittee to consumer passing the <br /> resolution which was included in the School Committee packet, about the No Chid Left <br /> Behind (NCL Act. The proposed resolution highlighted major areas of concerns that <br /> pertain speccally to the district's needs. There is a need to expand school <br /> accountability, additional flexibility in using tests scores to measures schools, flexibUity <br /> provided in the cent requirements that ninety-five percent of students overall and in <br /> subgroups must take the test, limit designating schools as in need of improvement, <br /> corrective action, or restructuring to those schools where the sane subgroup of students <br /> in the sanne subject fail to meet A P for two or more consecutive years and recognition <br /> of the unique teaching responsibilities of-special education teachers. The conittee is <br /> requesting the support on this School Board Resolution of the NC Act. They would <br /> lube to move forward on this bill and send it to the local governing agencies in the state. <br /> Mrs. Bradshaw asked the committee members if other districts have signed on yet` Ms. <br /> Camp informed her that she had not heard of any other districts yet to sign on. <br /> Mr. Thomas suggested that more time is needed for farther discussion on this as here are <br /> so many questions about this whole process. <br /> . "Ch rti the Course orientation Session" — September 27, 2005, Old Rochester <br /> Regional School. Mr-s. Bradshaw stated that this item was for informational purposes <br /> only especially for new School Committee members. A new school committee member <br /> training session is being offered at the Old Rochester Regional High School in <br /> Mattap isett on September 27, 2005, from 2:3 — 8:00 pm for training for new school <br /> committee members. Mrs. Grady and Mrs. Romkey are planning to attend this session. <br /> 8,1 o RMular School Committee Meeting-Date for October'. Mrs. Bradshaw suggested <br /> possibly changing the regularly scheduled School Committee meeting from October 5, <br /> 20051, to a dfferent date so as not to interfere with the .newish Holid4y. After some <br /> discussion, the next School Cottee Meeting is scheduled for Thursday, October 6, <br /> 2005. <br /> 8.11 Substitute Nurse — The last discussion was held on the Substitute Nurse Pay. <br /> The School Con nmWee members were presented with a two sued document from the <br /> school nurses Patricia Moran Nye and Judy Dupont. The School Cottee polio states <br /> that only Registered purses may adn ni ter medications to students. There has been a lot <br /> of problems in obtaining registered nurses to core in as substitutes in the schools. <br /> Research was obtained in ether districts regarding substitute pay for substitute nurses. <br /> Barnstable pays $60.00 day; Bourne $75.00 day, Dennis Yarmouth $65.00 day, Falmouth <br />
