MASIAPEE SCHOOL COMMITTEE <br /> FINANCE MEETfNG <br /> APRIL 2 ,2006 <br /> Minutes <br /> Attendees: Chairman Janice Mills, Peter Thomas, MaryRose Grady, and Becky Romkey. Kathy Lynch <br /> arrived at 7:00 p. . Also in attendance were Superintendent of Schools Ann Bradshaw and Business <br /> Administrator Peter Roche. <br /> I, Call Meeting to Order — Mrs. Mills called the finance meeting to order at 6:31 p.m. in the <br /> Quashnet School'Library. <br /> II. Business Administrator's Report <br /> 2.1 FY06 Budget Update—Mr. Roche reported the following: <br /> a freeze has been put in place for future purchases unless authorized by the <br /> Sup Tint nd nt or Business Administrator. <br /> Ir. Thomas questioned the usage of the word "freeze" as that connotes a total <br /> stoppage of purchases which is not the case at this time. Mr. Roche acknowledged <br /> the word"freeze"was too harsh. <br /> • the deficits currently reflected in the Coombs and high school expenses are being <br /> corrected. <br /> $10,000 for the additional high school security requirements is currently encumbered <br /> under tuition reimbursement. <br /> costs incurred for operating the special education vans have been higher than <br /> budgeted. Circuit breaker funds will be used for this deficit. The Department <br /> Education has confirmed that circuit breaker funds cannot be used to purchase special <br /> education vans. Budget funds will be reallocated. <br /> the School Facilities Supervisor has projected a$67,000 heating and gas deficit. <br /> 0 special education driver deficits will be covered by circuit breaker funds. <br /> 0 special education tuition deficits to be moved to the circuit breaker funds, <br /> advertising and mail costs are higher now than anticipated. Legal account will have <br /> surplus. <br /> 2.2 FY06 Budget.Transfers — Mr. Roche recommended pr val of the following budget <br /> transfers (see 7hibit A : <br />
