8.7 Update from Volunteer AdvisoKy Council <br /> Beth Wunder volunteer Coordinator, Mr. Tippo, and Ms. <br /> Santos (who are members of the volunteer Advisory <br /> Council) spoke. From November 2005 to November 2006 <br /> the volunteer department has increased their volunteers by <br /> 100 persons. Mr. Tippo was instrumental in having <br /> Missoula Theater return to Mashpee. So far 20 volunteers <br /> have been trained in the Read Naturally program. <br /> 8.8 Ike ort on Special Education Programs <br /> Mrs. Jane Beaudin and Ms. Carla Thomas presented an <br /> overview of the Special Education Department. Mrs. <br /> eaudin communicated that the Special Education <br /> Department follows the vision statements and mission <br /> statements of the school district. The program begins with <br /> the Referral Process which includes: <br /> -Begins with Teaching Assistant Team <br /> -Teaching Assistant Team follow up <br /> -Referral to Clinical Team <br /> -Clinical Team determines area of need of testing <br /> and schedules assessment and team evaluation <br /> meeting <br /> -Chairperson notifies parent/guardian <br /> -Special Education Team follow-up <br /> -Placement determined <br /> All of these guidelines are from Federal and State laves. <br /> Entrance/Exit Criteria includes: <br /> -Evidence of a disability <br /> -Student is not able to access the curriculum <br /> There is a continuum of Special Education Services <br /> including: <br /> -Inclusion <br /> -Resource Room <br /> -Substantially Separate <br /> -Out of District Placement <br /> -Out of District Residential Placement <br /> -Hospital/Home tutoring <br /> Mrs. Beaudin explained that the Clinical team is <br /> responsible to review the student. She stated that inclusion <br /> is the least restrictive environment. As well, the student <br /> support center is a classroom that has a formal behavior <br /> modification program.
