5 <br /> supports Student Support Center staff. The Autism <br /> program is supervised by Special Education staff with <br /> expertise in autism. She explained that for these students <br /> sometimes home programs are needed. The Life Shills <br /> program teaches function stills for daily living and begins <br /> in grade sever. Mrs. Beaudin explained that the current <br /> District-wide Special Education Enrollment is 401 students <br /> with a breakdown down follows: <br /> Pre School 29students <br /> Kenneth C. Coombs 5 7 students <br /> Quashnet School 116 students <br /> Mashpee High School 169 students <br /> Mrs. Beaudin stated that four years ago there were only two <br /> self-contained preschools, and today we have four <br /> integrated preschools. Currently we service 78 Preschool <br /> students, and out of this group 29 students receive Special <br /> Education services. Mrs. Beaudin discussed Special <br /> Education staffing at each school. Students also receive <br /> Speech and Language services. There are four fulltime <br /> speech and language pathologists. <br /> Mrs. Beaudin explained that the district has one <br /> Occupational Therapist and one Certified occupational <br /> Therapist Assistant who service students. There is also one <br /> Physical Therapist for the district who services students. <br /> Mrs. Beaudin explained that the Special Education <br /> Department also employees four Adjustment Counselors. <br /> Mrs. Beaudin discussed that the Mashpee School District <br /> tries to use a Collaborative Program first instead of an <br /> alternative program but this is not always possible. <br /> Mrs. Beaudin stated that the Special Education Advisory <br /> Council SP,A.0 would be sponsoring a presentation on <br /> Nutrition by Ir. Karen Dees. She discussed that she has <br /> been trying to involve more Special Education parents into <br /> joining the council or becoming involved in the schools. A <br /> group of Special Education parents will be holding a <br /> parent-to-parent meeting at Grist the King Church on I- <br /> 16-07 from 7-9 p.m. <br /> Mrs. Beaudin discussed the Child Find Lave which requires <br /> that the school seek out and find any and all Special <br /> Education children within the community. <br />
