Mrs. Romkey <br /> suggested that a parent survey may be helpful to solicit <br /> more parent input. Mrs. Beaudin agreed to look into this <br /> further. <br /> 8.9 Report on En lash Profic* Program <br /> Ms. Ellen Bankston reviewed the English Language <br /> Learner (ELL) program. Currently there are 22 students in <br /> the district, The Department of Education mandates <br /> programs, for ELL students no matter how many students. <br /> She explained that a language harrier can make learning <br /> much more difficult. <br /> Mrs. Bankston explained that from the Special Education <br /> Mid-Cycle review three areas of weakness have been <br /> identified and are currently being developed. These areas <br /> are: <br /> Full-time ELL teacher versus part time teachers <br /> Professional Development <br /> Formalized and Documenting information <br /> She explained that ELL follows an inclusion model an <br /> standardized testing is completed on all students <br /> 8.10 2007-200uashnet School Improvement Plan <br /> Mgrs. Bradshaw commended Mr. Dees and the School <br /> Improvement Ilan teams on their work. Mr. Dees <br /> explained that the Strategic Plan was derived from the <br /> vision statement. The goals of the Quashnet School <br /> Improvement Plan is as follows: <br /> Target ELA writing deficiencies <br /> Target Math deficiencies <br /> Gifted/talented enrichment <br /> Character Building Program (PSIS) <br /> The action steps of the Plan include the following: <br /> Increase ELA Math aggregate scores <br /> School Environment <br />
