M <br /> T x <br /> MASHPEE SCHOOL COMMITTEE <br /> REGULAR MEETING <br /> July 1 , 2007 <br /> Minute <br /> Attendees: Chairman MaryRose Grady, Ralph Marcelli, Becky Romkey, Janice Mills, and <br /> Richard Bailey. Also in attendance was Superintendent of Schools Ann Bradshaw. <br /> I. Fall Meeting to Order <br /> Mrs. Grady called the regular meeting to order at 6:35 p.m. in the <br /> library of the Mashpee High School. <br /> II. Executive Session Motion made by Mrs. Romkey, seconded by Mrs. Mills to move <br /> into executive session at 6:36 p.m. for the purpose of negotiations, <br /> and litigation. <br /> Roll Call Vote: In favor- Mrs. Grady, Mrs. Romkey, Mrs. Mills, <br /> Mr. Marcelli, Mr. Bailey; Opposed-none. <br /> The regular meeting reconvened at 7:06 p.m. <br /> The following item was moved up <br /> Iv. Public Forum Suzanne Avtges, President of the Teachers Association, welcomed <br /> the new school committee members. <br /> Sandra Lindsey of the Finance Committee mittee invited the school <br /> committee members to come and speak about the warrant article in <br /> the spirit of fellowship. <br /> Douglas Brew spore as a representative of a group of parents <br /> regarding the proposed language in the Student Athletic Handbook. <br /> He asked that a letter he had seat to the school committee be <br /> entered into the official minutes of the meeting (see Exhibit A . He <br /> discussed that the language regarding in the presence of alcohol <br /> should be changed, policies should only be applicable during the <br /> school year, there should be realistic punishment, and these <br /> policies should be applicable to all students. <br /> Terry Cook spoke regarding the petition article and the handbook. <br /> She expressed that she agreed with Mr. Drew's's vie s regarding the <br /> Student Athletic Handbook. In regards to the petition article, she <br /> stated that the Chapter 70 fands belonged to the school, but <br /> strongly disagreed with the petition process. She stated this should <br /> come through a gentleman's agreement and felt Haat she could not <br /> support the petition process. <br /> School Committee Regular Meeting July 18, 2007 1 <br />
