XVIII. Extended Learning Time Update(ELT) <br /> Mrs. Bradshaw updated the Committee on E.LT. She explained that building- <br /> bas ed <br /> uildin - <br /> based teams have met with the MASS'2 020 consultant. On April I st, four staff <br /> members attended an ELT conference. <br /> Mrs. Stanley spoke about her positive site visit to an ELT school. <br /> There was discussion that the ELT planning grant f .nds will be used for stipends <br /> for teachers to participate on the planning committee. <br /> XIX. School Choice <br /> Ms. Lugo informed the committee that a decision about school choice must <br /> he reported to the Department of Education by June I st. She reviewed <br /> information about other cape districts that participate in school choice. <br /> XX Mashpee High School Principal Search Update <br /> Mrs. Bradshaw informed the Committee that the screening committee met and <br /> ill have interviews for Mashpee High School principal candidates this <br /> Thursday and Friday. She discussed the principal open forums for staff, <br /> students', and parents to be held on April 7th at Ma�shpee High School. <br /> XXI. Mashpee light at the Pops <br /> Mrs.. radsha informed the Committee that the Mashpee Commons has <br /> extended a commitment to host the Mashpee light at the Pops for'the next two <br /> years. <br /> XXII. Superintendent Evaluation <br /> Mrs. Grady announced this would be postponed to the May meeting. <br /> XXII. Specifically Unassigned/Unfinished Business <br /> 23.1 Special Education Cost Comparison <br /> Mrs. Thomas spore about Applied Behavioral Analysis Services (ABA) and <br /> that this is considered the preferred method of teaching children on the autism <br /> spectrum. <br /> The current method has been to use an independent contractor. Since contractors <br /> are independent there is a lack in communication, there can be delays in fulfilling <br /> I P's, and it is more expensive than using in-house staff. <br /> The proposed method would be to train and use ire-house staff that has <br /> relationship with the students. This would involve six sessions of initial <br /> training and developing home service at $40 per hour, which would be a total <br /> cost of$240.00 <br /> School Committee Regular Minutes 412108 <br />
