5 <br /> 1 <br /> 5 <br /> 0 Elimination of special education office clerical position. Projected savings <br /> $24,000. <br /> • Half Time MHS English Teacher. projected savings $24,000. This is due to the <br /> elimination of the English department head position. <br /> These savings add up to about $500,000. <br /> Mrs. Mills stated that the Committee needs to respond to town hall whether or not <br /> the committee will continue to pursue a 2 -1 2 override for $62,000. <br /> Mr. Bailey stated that he is still very disappointed in the town and its willingness <br /> to fund other departments at an average o % increase and for them to struggle <br /> to give the schools anything, causing cuts and fees to maintain a level budget. <br /> XVI. School vans <br /> 16.1 GPS- Ms. Lugo informed the CO' mmittee that GPS systems could be <br /> purchased for each vary for approximately $200-$300 each. <br /> There was discussion that the Collaborative has GPS systems on all vans. <br /> 16.2 Overnight van pair in - Ms. Lugo reported to the Committee that she was <br /> informed that there was not enough room at the town hall to parr the vans and <br /> suggestion was made to use the Quashnet School parking lot. The Committee <br /> agreed to this. Mrs. Grady stated that'the parking at the Quashnet School could <br /> begin o . Monday. <br /> There was discussion to contact the Police Department to make more frequent <br /> passes through the Quashnet parking lot, and to ensure that Mr. Tripp has the <br /> parting lot lights left on all night. <br /> Mrs. Grady asked IVIS. Lugo to bring the exact amount of the cost of the GPS <br /> systems to the next meeting for a vote. <br /> XVII, Restructuring Update <br /> IVIS. Lugo informed the Committee that there have been two meetings to date. <br /> The committee has narrowed down to two possible scenarios. <br /> The two main scenarios are: <br /> • No change at all <br /> • 7th and 8th grade move out of IVlashpee High School and move to Quashnet <br /> School with their ora principal. Grade four, five, and six would remain at QS <br /> have their own principal. Grade three would move to the Kenneth C. Coombs <br /> School. <br /> School Committee regular Minutes 412108 <br />
