r <br /> I <br /> j/ qry <br /> School ColmWee Meeting <br /> February 3. 2010 <br /> Minutes <br /> Present were: Richard Bailey, Kathy Stanley and Jose Franco. Janice Mills was absent. <br /> Also present were Ann Bradshaw, Superintendent; Maria Hortaridis, Business Manager <br /> and Olivia Fisher, Student Advisory Council. <br /> I. C 11 Meeting to order <br /> Mr. Bailey called the meeting to order @630pm.. <br /> II. *Executive Session <br /> Mr. Franco made a motion, seconded by Mrs. Stanley to move into Executive <br /> Session for the purpose of personnel, negotiation and litigation. <br /> Roll Call Vote: In favor-Mr. Bailey, Mrs. Stanley and Mr. Franco; opposed--none, <br /> III. Public Comment <br /> Suzanne Avtges, MTA President informed the Committee that they are anxious to <br /> sit down and tally with therm about the Race to the Top Grant. <br /> In addition Mrs. Avtges asked what the process is for the members who have <br /> concerns regarding the budget. Mrs. Bradshaw will touch base with Mrs. Avtges to work <br /> out the process. <br /> Mr. Bailey spoke about the many accomplishments Mrs. Grady achieved while <br /> serving on the School Committee. Some of those achievements were: the creation o <br /> Mashpe Middle School, extending the school day 15 minutes, special education <br /> transportation, and getting soda/candy out of the vending machines to name a for. <br /> The Committee has decided not to fill Mrs. r d y's position for the remainder of <br /> her term due to the time involved. The position will remain open until the next town <br /> election in May 2 0 10. <br /> IV. Student Advisory Council <br /> Olivia Fisher gave ars update on the events at Mashpee High School. <br /> V. *MHS Field Trip to Spain—Alan Win row, Felly Fena <br /> The Spanish Club is requesting the Committee to approve a trip to Spain in <br /> February, 2011 for the Spanish Club members who have completed Spanish III. <br /> Mr. Franco made a motion, seconded by Mrs. Stanley to approve the field trip to <br /> Spain in February, 2011 r <br /> Vote: Unanimous <br /> V1. STEM Presentation—Ellen Bankston,Mike Looney <br /> Mrs. Bankston along with Mr. Looney gave a power paint presentation regarding <br /> the STEM initiative Mashpee is pursuing.
