7 <br /> • Latex: <br /> ➢ Non-latex gloves will be used in health office and <br /> cafe. <br /> ➢ Students are prohibited from blowing up or handling <br /> latex balloons . <br /> RESPONSIBILITY OF THE PARENTS <br /> • Inform the school nurse of child' s allergies upon <br /> registration or diagnosis . <br /> • Meet with the nurse to develop an Individual Health Care <br /> Plan. Arrange for the sharing of information by the school <br /> nurse and the student' s physician. <br /> • Have their child wear a Medic Alert bracelet. <br /> • Discuss in advance with nurse how to handle snacks, lunch <br /> and special classroom celebrations . <br /> • Discuss with the school nurse plans for field trips . <br /> • Keep teachers and school nurse informed of any changes in <br /> their child' s allergy status . <br /> • Comply with the schools medication policies and procedures <br /> • Provide two (2) non-expired Epipens to the school if <br /> indicated. <br /> EMERGENCY MEDICAL PROTOCOL <br /> • RECOGNIZE EMERGENCY, CALL 911 (This activates the EMS <br /> system) <br /> • CALL NURSE <br /> • Contact Principal <br /> • Move students from classroom if necessary <br /> • Nurse ascertains nature of emergency <br /> • Stabilize victim <br /> I <br />
