Doherty explained that the Board of Health fully expected to be <br /> reimbursed for this by the Federal Government. He did not wart to <br /> wait for that. He did not want to take the chance of someone <br /> getting sick. Mr. Golub asked if the Board of Health considered <br /> condemning these wells? Mr. Doherty explained that new wells have- <br /> been prohibited for some time, You have to prove contamination to <br /> condemn <br /> Mr. Doherty explained that if this work begins in the spring, <br /> installation will take approximately one week. <br /> Mr, Doherty asked if the Committee would be voting on hi . The <br /> Committee invited him to stay. Mr, Goggin Notion to take a vote on <br /> the Reserve Fund, request, Mr.# Golub seconded the vote for <br /> discussion purposes. lir. Watt felt that the petition should be <br /> denied, He again stated that he felt the homeowners should first <br /> be approached and get involved, He would also like to see evidence <br /> that health risks do exist, Ms, King mentioned that she too had a <br /> problem with this petition. She empathizes with the homeowners if <br /> financially they cannot afford this, but she is also fearful of <br /> setting a bad precedent, Ms. King felt that the homeowners or the <br /> Water District should be responsible. Mr, Doherty believed that <br /> both the Water District and the Town is not liable. Ms. King <br /> called the vote, The committee - voted -o in opposition of the <br /> request, Mr, Goggin Made a Manion that the Vinan a Committee <br /> discuss this with the Water District, Sid Golub seconded the <br /> Motion and members approved this Lotion 4-0, Ms, King stated that <br /> she would contact Deirdre Greelish and Ed Baker at the water <br /> District to discuss this issue. <br /> Other Business <br /> Ms, King asked the members to renew the drafts Mr. Bacigalupi had <br /> prepared and have comments ready for the next meeting, Mr. Goggin <br /> felt that the Committee should stick with the. Long Range Plan, He <br /> also felt it would be useful tb keep aside % t for <br /> emergencies. Mr. Goggin did feel that it was very important to get <br /> a publication out to the public, at low cost, Ms, King said she <br /> assumed the Committee would do something, but would gait until the <br /> Warrant closed and go from that point, She asked if the Committee <br /> wanted to incorporate the budget into the report? Mr. Golub felt <br /> that the report should be leaner than longer. He felt that the <br /> majority of taxpayers get lost in a, large report. Is. King <br /> suggested forming a subcommittee. <br /> Finance C itteeā¢s Expense Budget <br /> The Committee discussed the importance of preparing mailing to be <br /> sent to -all taxpayers prior to the Annual Town Meeting& Mr. Golub <br />
