9 <br /> MAS PEE FINANCE COMMITTEE MINUTES <br /> FEBRUARY 6, 1996 <br /> MEETING COMMENCED AT 7 :OOPM <br /> Finance Committee members present: Marcia Ding, Chairman; Sid <br /> Golub; Dan Coggin; Alec Watt and Mike Kumin. Tony Gallo and Juan <br /> aoigaiupi were unable to attend,, <br /> Please note for the record that the taping of this meeting is for <br /> the transcription of the Minutes only, once the Minutes are <br /> approved, the tapes will be reused. <br /> Minutes <br /> The Minutes of January 2 , 1996 and January 16, 1996 could not b <br /> voted on, due to an insufficient number of members present who were <br /> able to vote, The Minutes of January 23 , 1996 and January 30, 1996 <br /> will also be voted on at the next scheduled meeting, <br /> Nis . King asked that copies of the Minutes of January 9th and <br /> January 23rd be sent to Claire Le c y, Tri Town Circle once approved. <br /> Board of Health <br /> Ms. King mentioned to the Committee that she had spoken with John <br /> T. Doherty, Board of Health, and informed him that the Finance <br /> Committee is upset about being singled out. Mr., Doherty asked if <br /> he could attend the next meeting to clear up this issue. The <br /> Committee asked that Mr. Doherty be invited and also Elias McQuaid <br /> to discuss the Health budget at the same time. <br /> Torn, Report <br /> Ms. King explained that she had attached a draft of the Town Report <br /> to the agenda. She asked that the Committee review the report and <br /> inform her of any corrections that were needed. The Report is due <br /> on Monday, but Ms. King will ask if it can be extended two days, <br /> Nix , Golub suggested that her pie chart should contain the wording <br /> that the 2 for Education does not include debt and benefits, 1t <br /> was noted that Mashp a Debt outside Proposition 2 1/2 is about $1.6 <br /> million. Ms. King explained that roughly the budget goes to <br /> the schools. Ms. King asked if the Long Range Plan should be <br /> included in the Report? The Committee decided that the Plan from <br /> year ago should be included,, Ms. King would get comparison <br /> numbers from the Department of Revenue, <br /> School <br /> Kathy Lynch, School Committee, was in attendance at the meeting. <br /> She mentioned that it is less expensive to educate younger <br /> children. Presently, Mashpee is only educating younger children. i <br /> The schools cannot be compared to other Towns who also educate high <br />
