Mr. Kumin <br /> seconded the Motion but asked that elected salaries remain as <br /> requested $2 ,700. The Committee voted -1 in approval of Mr. <br /> Goggin's Motion. Mr. Kumin opposed. <br /> Department of Public works <br /> Mr. Taylor noted that salaries are as they were last year and that <br /> expenses have increased 3%. He then went on to explain that <br /> $32,000 was returned out of road conversions, approximately $63 ,000 <br /> from Snow and ice and $23 ,000 to the General. Fund, when asked <br /> about possible reimbursement from the State and Federal <br /> Governments, Mr. Taylor answered that possibly some money will be <br /> returned for snow removal . <br /> Salaries - Mr, Golub asked that the DPW cut back the differential <br /> wage from $5,,800 to $3 ,,000, Ms, King stated that she would <br /> entertain a Motion to lower this account to $3 ,000. Mr. Golub <br /> Motioned to lower the Differential wade Account from $5,800 to <br /> $3 ,,000 . Mr. Dacigalupi seconded the Motion for discussion. He was <br /> uncomfortable with the cut because the Finance Committee should not <br /> be asking all departments to cut with the promise that the Finance <br /> Committee will approve a transfer from the Reserve Fund, Mr, Golub <br /> felt that the departments would not spend this "fluff" money if <br /> they didn't have to. They would be hesitant to come before the <br /> Finance Committee and try ether things first. Mr. Golub mentioned <br /> that the tax rate is directly effected by these budgets, and the <br /> Committee should be concerned about these problem accounts. Mr. <br /> Watt Motioned to amend Mr, Golubfs Motion so that the Account would <br /> be reduced from $5,800 to $4,000, Mr. Goggin seconded the Motion <br /> and members approved -0 . <br /> Expenses - Rentals are up $5,000, Mr, Taylor- stated that he has <br /> Meld it within 3%, Mr. Colin asked about private roads. Mr. <br /> Taylor mentioned that it is funded $10,000 that is used very <br /> sparingly, he mentioned that Algonquin Road is desperate and he is <br /> trying to get the homeowners to petition the Town. Are there any <br /> that can be cut by $5,000' Mr. Golub Motioned to support a budget <br /> of $337,,000 for Expenses instead of $342,,000, Mr. Bacigalupi <br /> seconded the Motion and stated that he agreed to approve $337,000 <br /> but suggested that Greg decide where to cut. The Committee voted <br /> 6-0 to approve a budget for Expenses of $337,000. <br /> Capital -- Mr. Taylor said Capita. Requests are approximately <br /> $120,000. Mr, Taylor reminded the Committee of the study which had <br /> been' done on the roads which stated that the Town would meed <br /> $ 0 , 00 over a three year program to maintain the roads not <br /> reconstruct them. Mr. Golub and Mr. Goggin questioned that why Mr. <br /> Taylor when the CIP was first created, he felt money was not needed <br /> for both capital and for roads? Mr. Taylor disagred, he stated <br />
