He would go ahead and prepare the <br /> article, <br /> Finance Committee Candidates <br /> 1PM - Joseph Biknaitis, Amy Brown Road, was in attendance to <br /> recommend his appointment to the Finance Committee' s want seat . <br /> When asked why he was interested, he answered that he was very <br /> interested .in stabilizing the tax rate. Nor. Biknaitis was also <br /> very concerned about the Town's growth and would like to work on <br /> limiting the Town' s growth in order that services can be met. Mr. <br /> Gallo asked how growth could be limited' Mr. Biknaitis. answered by <br /> zoning enhancements and restrictions . When asked about the Mashpee <br /> Commons Expansion Plan, Mr. Biknaitis stated that he would most <br /> likely not be in favor of expansion. Mr. Biknaitis thea went on to <br /> speak briefly about his personal background. He asked about the <br /> other two candidates and why they did not run? Mr. Golub responded <br /> that even though he had run for the vacant seat during the most i <br /> recent election, it would not guarantee him this appointment, but <br /> it would be considered. Mr. Golub then went on to explain that <br /> there were two opportunities here being offered and they were the <br /> vacant seam on the Committee and also the CIP appointment. Mr. <br /> Biknaitis was not interested in the CTP appointment . Mr. watt <br /> asked if his interest was related to the concerns of his neighbors <br /> in Monomoscoy Mr. Biknaitis did respond that they have been <br /> contributing to the Town, but have not been represented to a large <br /> extent . He stated that there is a significant burden there. Mr' . <br /> Golub asked his opinion of school spending. M . Biknaitis answered <br /> that the school spending is out of line. <br /> Iii - Jerome Clair was also present to express his interest . <br /> When asked,, he commented that he was very interested in Town <br /> Government and felt that he brings an important set of important <br /> values because he .is a financially secure retiree. He hien went on <br /> to give a brief description of his background. He felt that he had <br /> experience and good sense in regard to staffing, salary <br /> administration and budget preparation. Mr. Kumin asked his opinion <br /> about having a different tax rate for residential and commercial <br /> properties. Mr. Clair answered that he felt both residential and <br /> commercial should have the same tax rate. He felt that promoting <br /> businesses would be beneficial to Mashpee* Mr* Golub mentioned <br /> that the tax rate by far was the Finance Committee' s highest <br /> priority. They do hope to see some revenue coning in to offset <br /> that . other concerns were opening the school and pollution from <br /> wase, etc . Mr. Golub went on to explain that just a year ago the <br /> Finance Committee didn' t make such a great impact, but as of last <br /> Town Meeting the Finance Committee was very proactive and making a <br /> pretty good impact .
