The Executive Secretary asked that the Finance Committee
meet with her. He felt that she did deserve a raise. Sid agreed
to have Anne come in. The Committee voted 4-0 to not approve.
Article 13 - (zoning books) Juan Motioned to approve this article.
Alec seconded this Motion and members approved 4-0 .
Article 14 - ($8, 000 to the Herring Ladder Account) Alec had
indicated that he had received a telephone call from Wakeby
Homeowner' s Association and they would like to meet with the
Finance Committee in regard to this article. Mr. Whritenour felt
that the Finance Committee should be careful in meeting with side
groups . This particular group is interested in the levels of the
lake. Alec explained that this group are taxpayers who want to
tell their point of view. Alec Motioned to have the Finance
Committee make their recommendation on Town Meeting floor. Juan
seconded the Motion. Mr. Whritenour felt that this group should
meet with the Selectmen and then meet with the Finance Committee if
necessary. Juan asked if this group had wanted a water management
plan, and that the Herring Warden responded that "God is my water
management plan" . Mr. Whritenour mentioned that if the Town wants
these levels controlled there is going to be one huge public works
project . Mr. Golub stated that the Finance Committee should only
make recommendations, but felt that they should not take a position
on this article. The Committee voted 4-0 to table until Town
Meeting. Alec would call this group and invite them to be heard at
the next meeting.
Article 15 - (supplying Town water to Town Hall) Juan mentioned
that by having Town water the building will have a full sprinkler
system. Mr. Whritenour mentioned that it would be a 5% savings
each year on fire insurance. The Committee asked why bottled water
would need to be supplied if the building had Town water? Juan
Motioned to approve this article. Mike seconded the Motion and
members approved 4-0 .
Article 16 - (maintenance of snow and ice removal equipment) Juan
Motioned to table this vote until Alec has had a chance to speak
with Greg Taylor and get a justification and breakdown for this .
Mike seconded the Motion and members approved 4-0 .
Article 17 - (roadway improvements through Chapter 90) Juan
Motioned to approve this article.
