Mr. Dellagala, Tax Payer and former member of the Personnel <br /> Board, stated that when he served on the Personnel Board they <br /> always had department heads involved but that there was not an <br /> expert in this, case. Mr. i ellagala felt that some money should be <br /> spent in hiring a consultant in order to get the most qualif- ed. <br /> Mr. Ba igalupi suggested writing a letter to the Personnel Board <br /> offering. their assistance in getting a consultant with technical <br /> expertise to hire someone with the right credentials . Mr. Golub <br /> mentioned that the Finance Committee has not been officially asked <br /> y Personnel . Mr. Golub stated that the. two requirements needed <br /> were technical expertise and secondly people skills. Mr. Goggin <br /> expressed that he believed it to be a losing battle. Mr. Golub <br /> suggested writing to the Enterprise as individuals and not under <br /> the- Finance Committee name. Mr. Gallo withdrew his Motion. <br /> CIP Appointment <br /> Mr. Golub mentioned that at a prior meeting the Committee voted to <br /> nominate- Mr. Terry Claire as thein representative to- the CIP. He <br /> asked that the Committee ittee agree to now go forward .and send his name <br /> in. Shaw stated that the Town has borrowed everything except the <br /> playing fields . Mr. Golub asked Ms . Shaw how much the Town has <br /> earned in interest for high school arbitrage's Ms,. Shaw answered <br /> $284, 000 through June. <br /> Mr. Golub indicated that the Finance Committee also wished to speak <br /> with Ms . Shag regarding collections, tax title and foreclosures . <br /> Ms . Shaw commented that collection percentages increased by 4 o <br /> . There was approximately $900, 00-0 in redemptions collected in <br /> i~ 9 . The Town also generated $229, 000 in interest and $167, 000. in <br /> late taxes . Ms . Shaw also mentioned that there were approximately <br /> 150. people on payment plans presently. Ms . Shaw stated that there <br /> was a petition to foreclose on Southport . Representatives. of the <br /> group requested nine months to repay taxes, but Ms . Shaw agreed to <br /> six Months . Southport' s attorney had also agreed to a 6 months <br /> timeframe . Southport owes approximately $900, 000 in owed taxes and <br /> is ordered to pay back the money min six equal payments . originally <br /> it was only three months, but Ms . Shaw had agreed to six months . <br /> Mr. Golub informed the Committee that Kimberly Go ons, Property <br /> Manager at Southport, was also in attendance.
