Director <br /> Present representing Selectmen's mice: Bob Vhritenour,Executive Secretary <br /> Mr. Taylor presented the D.P.W. Budget dated February 11, 1997. He discussed the salary <br /> figures, including overtime, on the budget. <br /> Mr. Taylor noted that, to the Expense figure o $337,000,he has added Initiatives. These are <br /> item that have come up over the last year that have been his initiative or theSelectmen's <br /> initiatives. <br /> Mr. whritenour stated that he very strongly supports all,with exception of the last one, the <br /> initiatives in Mr. Taylor's budget. a stated that, with regards to Initiative#1,thea is a <br /> legitimate loss of purchasing poser. <br /> DAW. Budget/Initiatives <br /> Initiative#1: Repairs and Maintenance of Roads/Purchase Equivalent to 199 1. <br /> Since 1991, the Expense budget has not kept up with inflation by 1,500. It was noted that <br /> 2 roads have been added since 1991; thereby,expanding their scope considerably. <br /> Initiative 2: Trak Signal Maintenance in the mount of $3,800. <br /> The operation cost of the traffic signal on Route 15 1 needs to be included in the budget. <br /> Initiative 3-. Landscaping Tow-n Buildings in the amount of$17,800. <br /> These buildings include the Mashpiee Senior Center,Mashpee Library,llriashpee Eire and <br /> Police Area,and Town Hall. <br /> Initiative#4: Heritage Park Irrigation and additional maintenance$13,000. <br /> Initiative#5: Engineering for D.P.W. projects in the amount of$9,000. <br /> We need survey and additional work done. <br /> Initiative#6: South Cape Beach nourishment in the amount 15,000. <br /> There was a considerable amount of discussion regarding the erosion of the South Cape <br /> Beach. without beach nourishment,the town beach parking lot will eventually be in the <br /> water. Need placement of sand. <br /> Initiative : Landscaping of the rotary in the amount of 15,000. <br /> Initiative#8: Sweeping All Town Roads,Private and Public in the amount of$30,000. <br /> We still need to rent a sweeper in addition to now owning our sweeper because <br /> we have additional roads to service. <br /> Initiative#9- Emergency Repairs in the amount of$5,000. <br /> Mr. Taylor noted that he has been very successful in trying to obtaining other people*s money <br /> to assist us in getting things done. He noted they were able to achieve$327,000 of other <br /> people's funds which is 97%of their operating budget for Town load#15 1. <br />
