Q*0 What do the police officers get out of the
Quinn Bill?
A: Officers with qualifying degrees would receive a base salary
percentage increase. The benefit can be paid weekly, on a pro-
rated
basis, or in one or several payments throughout the year,,
Associates Degree 10%, Bachelors Degree 20%, Master's Degree 25%
Q: How will the town benefit?
A 04 The Quinn Bill would be very instrumental in attracting and
retaining educated police officers for the Town of Mashpee, With
this benefit Mashpee would be able to broaden their applicant pool
to include more highly qualified veteran officers. The Town's
current hiring policy currently seeks qualified, previously trained
veteran officers for transfer to Mashpee. Educated veteran officers
generally seek openings in communities that have the Quinn BiII.
Current officers would have an added incentive to continue their
education. Educated officers are an asset to the community that
they serve.
Q*6 Is the adoption of the Quinn Bill a
collective bargaining i ?
ssue
A: NO. The Quinn Bill is a state law and therefore it MUST be
approved at Town Meeting by the voters. The Quinn Bill, a state
law, CAN NOT be adopted through the collective bargaining
process between the union and the Town.
Please Vote YES on Article 22
