Mashpee Finance Committee <br /> Minutes <br /> Tuesday, January 13, 1998 <br /> Present: Alec Watt, C:hainnan <br /> Jim Cleary, Sidney Golub,Nancy Goulart,Mike Kumin <br /> Absent: Tony Gallo,Dan Goggin <br /> Also <br /> Present: Police Chief William C.Prybylel <br /> Meeting Called to Order by Chain an Watt at 6:40 p.m.at the Mashpee Town Hall,Meeting <br /> Room# ,on Tuesday,January 13, 1998. <br /> POLICE DEPARTMENT RE 's'FOR TRANSFER; <br /> PILI-1� '----- - I 1�■i 1 Y <br /> Police Chief Przybylck submitted a memorandum dated January 4, 1998,to Alec Watt, <br /> Chairman,Mashpee Finance Committee, regarding a request to meet with the Finance <br /> Committee concerning the transfer ofids. Chairman Watt noted that the amount of <br /> transfer requested is in the amount of$39,134.00. <br /> Police Chief Przybylek made a presentation regarding the transfer of funds. The Chief <br /> noted that approximately 18 months ago, he applied for a Federal Grant. The Chief noted a <br /> Federal Grant program which focused on technology and the improvement of technology in <br /> Police Departments. He stated that the Mashpee Police Department was very fortunate to be <br /> named among very few departments in the Commonwealth that received the award. <br /> He noted that he was notified on June Z, 1997,that they were going to receive a substantial <br /> award. He added that they were told they couldn't receive$100,000 in federal funds without <br /> putting up some matching funds. <br /> Chicf Pr ybylek noted that initially he had wanted to wait until the October meeting to see if <br /> the Selectmen would let him put this on the Warrant. After discussing this with Chairman <br /> Watt, it had been decided that this was not an"emergency" situation and not eligible to be on <br /> the Warrant. <br /> The Chief noted that the grant willexpire in May 1998 and he stated that it is still unknown <br /> whether he can get an extension to that grant. <br /> Chief Pr ybylek noted that the grant is going to accomplish three major items: <br /> 0 Give the Police Department an upgrade of their local area network,which is their <br /> ire-house computer system. They will get a new server,which will substantially <br /> speed up and streamline their internal computerized network. <br /> 0 The addition of mobile data terminals,which are really stand-alone PC's, in all of <br /> the Police Department's marked eniisers. <br />
