Driving while Intoxicated Patrol <br /> He noted that they tried to increase this to 200 hogs total patrol during the year. He <br /> noted that they are going to have to adjust this figure back by$1,000 because of the <br /> reductions. <br /> Speed and Traffic Enforcement <br /> He rated that this is the same situation as the Irving while Intoxicated Patrol. They <br /> are trying to throw more into that in response to what the conununity is asking therm to <br /> do for the various neighborhoods that have speeding problems. <br /> Sergeant's Advanced Management Training <br /> He noted that they cut back on the Babson College course. He said they have been <br /> sending a Sergeant every year to the three week course which helps develop the leaders <br /> for the future of the department. He noted that this is a$2,300 item and he has removed <br /> it from the budget because of the reduction by the Executive Secretary. <br /> Major Crime Investigations overtime <br /> He noted that this item is a slight increase of$1,000 based on spending history. <br /> Computer System Quality Control overtime <br /> He noted that this item was unchanged; however, he has reduced it by$1,000. <br /> Cops In Shops overtime <br /> He noted that this is the surveillance of licensed establishments in putting police officers <br /> in an undercover capacity in some of the places that serve beer to try to control under- <br /> age kids from buying beer. This program will be a$1.,000 cut as well. <br /> Emergency Patrol/Special Events Assignments <br /> This item has remained unchanged; however,they have added some events such as the <br /> Thanksgiving Day Football game and Memorial Day parade. He noted that these <br /> additions have increased the account. <br /> Neighborhood Associations Liaison Program <br /> Chief Pr ybylek noted that this is one of them big public relations items under <br /> community policing. He noted that he had originally budgeted$14,800 to this program. <br /> This year, it was an$11,000 item. with the reductions,he stated that he will have to <br /> reduce the amount b $6,000. He noted that over the last three years,they have brought <br /> in over$1,000,000 in grants to the town and a lot of there were community policing. He <br /> stated that he felt he should receive the support from the Selectmen on this Program. <br /> Police Armorer Overtime <br /> This is for weapons maintenance and they have cut this item in half and took$1,000 out <br /> of this account. <br /> Vehicle Maintenance <br /> This item is$3,000 per year. <br /> Domestic violence Unit Investigations <br /> Chief Przybylek noted that this is$10,000,which is unchanged. He said they use this <br /> money as a local fund match to enable them to pick up at least$20,000 is domestic <br /> violence grant money from the State. He informed the Finance Committee that it has <br /> allowed there to hire a Domestic Violence Counselor who works in their building but is <br /> a contract employee from Independence House. They also use the money to try to <br /> provide follow-up visits to batterers and to serve restraining orders. <br />
