i
i
that. In the absence of that, the Town Accountant could go through the IRS on a single tax
form and request a rebate of federal excise tax paid on total gallons for up to three yews prior.
• 215 Police Medical Supplies
The Chief noted that their budget request is for$2,800 and this figure has been reduced to
$2,000. He stated that they are going to raise an issue on this because they have$1,600 in,
infection control supplies which are masks, gloves, decontamination of things—things that
the department sensibly should have had in the past but didn't. They are trying to-get thorn
added to the inventory.
• 216 Police other Supplies
Unchanged.
0 217 Police In State Travel
Unchanged.
218 Police Dues and Memberships
Unchanged.
1 police Dues and Memberships
This budget request was reduced by$200. The Chief stated that he has no idea why this was
reduced.
Mr. Coggin questioned if there are any vehicles in the budget. Chief Przybylek stated that the
vehicles are in the C.I.P. —there are 10 marked vehicles and 2 unmarked vehicles. Upon
questioning by Mr. Coggin,,Chief Pryblek stated that they deal with 2 and 4 year leases for
their vehicles. They have always replaced the marked vehicles with 2 year leases and the
unmarked vehicles with 4 year leases.
Mr. Golub questioned if a study was ever done concerning whether 2 years or 3 years is the
best.approach. Chief Przybylck stated that he feels 3 years is too long. He said they do 4 year
leases with his car,the deputy's car, and other marked vehicles because of the mileage
consideration. with the narked police vehicles,he is finding that they are running out of
warranty at 60,000 to 75,000 in that two year period. He noted that when they run into
difficulty with big ticket items before the end of the two years and mer the warranty, if they
had extended maintenance, they could cover them to 90,000 miles. He stated that he thinks
years would be too long because of the mileage.
Dispatcher Salary/Wage Accounts
Chief Pr ybylek noted that the Dispatcher Salary/Wage Aunts are unchanged by the
Executive Secretary. He noted that most of the items are contractual obligations other than
the amount of people. They haven't increased the stab. They are involved in negotiations
right now relative to the amount of staff kept in there on an overtime basis to make sure there
is proper coverage. The negotiations are coning to a conclusion. when they are concluded,
he stated that he will go to the Selectmen with a recommendation of the steps they might
want to take with regards to staking.
