2 <br /> Selectmen Caffyn and Mrs. I umin stated that the Human Services Commission would need <br /> ars additional$30,000 to cover the cost of a Human Service Coordinator,Travel,and Rental <br /> Space. <br /> Selectmen Caffyn noted that the Human Services Commission has not been able to meet with <br /> the Board of Health to discuss this issue yet and that this is the first that the Board of Health <br /> is hearing about this request. <br /> Robert Cram,Board of Health,suggested that members front the Board of Health meet with <br /> the Human Services Commission and discuss the FY99 Budget Requests from the various <br /> agencies,along with the$30,000 request by the Human Services Commission. After they <br /> meet,he noted that they would present their FY99 budget request to the Finance Committee. <br /> Mr. Orin Evans,Assistant Health Agent,informed the Finance Conunittee that he has been <br /> attending the meetings of the Human Services Commission and that the budget items have ; <br /> been discussed only ging the last couple of meetings. He related the budget information <br /> that he felt was relevant to the Board of Health. <br /> Mrs.Kumin noted that the Human Services Commission has a meeting scheduled with the <br /> Board of Health for Thursday. <br /> Mr. Golub noted that rather than request an amount,there should be definitive costs outlined <br /> as far as what is needed for the request from the Hyman Services Commission. <br /> Mr. Goggin requested from the Board of Health a report on hove the Town of Ma h ee i <br /> utilizing these Human Services. <br /> Chairmen watt noted that the Board of Health FY99 budget request is level funded except for <br /> the difference of$10,000 as discussed. <br /> Transfer Station: <br /> 11r. Goggin questioned the status of the contract for the Transfer Station. Mr.McQuaid <br /> stated that last year,they put out 5 RFP's for bid. He sued that only one bid was rued. <br /> Mr. McQuaid commented that there has been an issue concerning the landfill bung closed on <br /> certain days. He noted that his only intention in recommending that to the Board was to save <br /> money. He stated that if it is closed on Tuesdays and Thursdays between November and <br /> March,that they could save some money. However,only one bid came back and that bid was <br /> significantly higher than the previous year. <br /> Mr. Cram stated that one of the ley reasons that caused the bid to come back in higher than <br /> expected was a ruling by'T'own Council in regards to employees and the labor wages they had <br /> to be paid at. He noted that they had to be union wages, so it created a substantial jump in the <br /> contract price. <br /> Solid waste Budget; <br /> Mr.McQuaid reviewed the line items for the Solid waste budget: <br /> Transfer Station Maintenance: Remains the sante at$7500. <br />
