s <br /> Mashpee Finance Committee <br /> Minutes <br /> Tuesday,January 25,2000 <br /> Present: Chairman Dean Arden <br /> Jeff Janes Morgan,Chuck Sheehan <br /> Absent; Steve Cashman,Sidney Golub,Nancy 13oulart <br /> Meeting Called to Order by Chairman Arden at 6:40 p. .at the Mashpee Town M11, <br /> Meeting Room#1,on Tuesday,January 25,2000. <br /> FINANCE COMMITTEE MEETING TING M <br /> Tuesda Ja#MEX It,2000 Ag"r.Leagion <br /> Motion made by Mr. Sheehan to accept the Finance Committee <br /> Regular Session mutes dated Tuesday,January 11,2000. <br /> Motion seconded by Mr.Arnold and approved. <br /> I��N NC COMMITTEE IIS USSIOM <br /> The Finance Committee members discussed heir objectives for the process of reviewing the <br /> budget. <br /> The Finance Committee has discussion concerning receiving copy of the School Audit and <br /> the School Budget,along with any other information requested frorn the School. <br /> Chairman Arden informed the Committee that he has been working on a five-year study on <br /> the Town Finances. He stated that the average rate of increase in the tomes in the Town of <br /> Mashpee for the last five years has been I%a year. He noted that this figure is well below the <br /> cost of living. Chairman Arden also noted that the total revenue has increased by %a year <br /> on average,which includes the 1%tax increase. <br /> The Finance Committee members discussed allowing o increase in department budgets in <br /> order to sy in line with the growth of revenue. <br /> Mr.Arnold noted that there are three departments—School,Police,and Fire#-which accost <br /> for 0%of the total budget. <br /> W Arnold pointed out that the Police Department has over$1,079,000 in grants available. <br /> The Finance Committee members discussed the proposed school reorganization. <br /> Mr.Morgan commented that he feels the Finance Committee should set down sorne basic <br /> parameters on how they ue going to do business—for this year as well as every year.
