Finance Co mittee February 15,2000 <br /> FINANCE COMMITTEE ISCUSSIO S <br /> ON DEPARTMENT BUDGE'T'S: <br /> MQOLO <br /> Ws.Goulart stated that she talked with Diane l ommelrneyer,Town Accountant,and was <br /> informed that the School Department is looking for 30 additional positions. <br /> There was discussion on Special Ed Pre-School. The question was raised by fir.Morgan <br /> ` regarding the$136,000 mi new salary requests for Special fid Pre-School. Where was a <br /> question as to whether the Special Ed for Pro-School is mandated. Mr. Morgan stater that <br /> they are requesting almost 1 million dollars for pre-school salaries. Mr.Morgan added that <br /> they are asking for W,000 for a Special Ed pre-school teacher and a Special Ed pre-school <br /> speech therapist. fire was discussion on the School budget. Mr.Arden stated that he will <br /> check into this. <br /> . .w <br /> The Finance Committee discussed the D.P.W.budget and the addition of the two new <br /> laborers and the Deputy Director. <br /> ojMCA Q.N,AGING: <br /> Mr. Morgan stated that he met with Jim Long,Director of Council on Aging. <br /> Mr. Morgan stated that Mr.Long will provide a matrix showing the staffing of comparable <br /> towns on the Cape. Nor.Long is trying to do sonic things that he has put on hold. The person <br /> he is requesting is an Administrator who would Bile,answer phones and various other duties. <br /> He only has two people in the office right now. He has some volunteers. He has two <br /> positions,which are funded in monies which cme from outside the town, Thery really is <br /> shortfall of services which he is not able to provide adequately to the seniors in town. with <br /> an additional person,it world free him up,as well as Lynn,to be able to do things to provide <br /> greater service. Mr. Morgan stated that he would support the additional person. <br /> Mrs. Goulart stated that W.Long has been asking several}mars for this additional person. <br /> L SE SERVICES* <br /> Mr.Morgan stated that he met with Mr,Gus Frederick,Leisure Services. fir. Morgan stated <br /> that the additional position being requested by Leisure Services is not really a true position. <br /> He currently funds the position from a revolving account and what he wants to do is push it <br /> over to a regular salary expense. Mr. Morgan stated that he asked Mr.Frederick,Leisure <br /> Services Director, if he would reonsid r that at this point in time and he has agreed that he <br /> would be willing to held on it. <br /> Mr.Dorgan stated that the only other issue he has is that he is requesting a software package <br /> Yin the mount of$9,000. He does have the hardware to drive it. The software package will <br /> give hien the ability to sign pile up when they enroll for the programs and will allow him to <br /> manage enrollment;offers scheduling and tracking of registration;and provides a scheduling <br /> facility. <br /> Mr. Morgan commented that Mr.Frederick felt that this software world aid-him and be able <br /> o bring in additional money. <br />
