i <br /> 'Finance CommitteefMarch 21,2000 <br /> Vote: <br /> Approve Motion: Arnold, Sheehan <br /> Not Approve Motion: Arden,Cashman,Goulart,Morgan t <br /> Motion Not Passed: -4. <br /> Police Capital <br /> Mr. Arnold stated that he spent an hour today with Mr. Clancy of the Police Department <br /> discussing purchasingleaing police vehicles. <br /> Mr. Arnold commented that he believes they will sage %by purchasing the vehicles rather <br /> than leasing the vehicles. <br /> The lease will cost roughly$13,000 per vehicle per year for two years. By purchasing,they <br /> get$7,500 per year for 3 years and a 7 ,000-mile warranty with a zero deductible on the <br /> vehicle. The changeover on a purchased vehicle vs. a leasedvehicle is essentially the same. <br /> Mir. Arnold noted that he discussed this issue with NIT Municipal Headquarters Vehicles) <br /> formerly known as AMY Municipal Vehicles. <br /> Mr.Arnold suggested that they purchase the vehicles rather than lease the vehicles. He <br /> pointed out that the cost to purchase the vehicles would be$180,100;the cost to lease the <br /> vehicles would cost$111,110 each year over a two year period—an additional$40,000 over <br /> purchasing. <br /> Mr. Morgan commented that it is not cheaper to lease. <br /> It was noted that the Selden recommendation for Police Capital---Vehicles i $111,112. <br /> Motion to Approve Police Capital-Vehicles: <br /> Mr. Sheehan made a motion that the Finance Committee recommend to the <br /> Board of Selectrneh Mr. Arnold's proposal and that the Finance Committee is <br /> recommending that the police vehicles be purchased rather than leased. In <br /> addition,the Police Capital for Vehicles approved by the Finance Committee is <br /> in the amount of$180,100. <br /> Motion seconded by Mr. Morgan. <br /> Vote:Unanimous 6-0. <br /> Copy ofMr.Arnold's proposalldocumentation is attached to these minutes. <br /> Police Salary&Wade <br /> Mr.Arnold presented a police budget recommendation for Police Salary&wage in the <br /> amount of$1,936,498. Mr. Arnold documented the budget line items in lois report,which <br /> lists the requested amount and the recommended amount. <br /> Mr. Arnold presented a police budget recommendation for Police Expense in the amount of <br /> $175,946. Mr. Arnold documented the budget line items in his report,which lists the <br /> requested amount and the recommended amount. <br />
