'Finance Committee/March 21,2000 <br /> It was noted that the Selectmen recommendation for the school budget is$14,075,000. <br /> Motion for School'Budget* <br /> Mrs. Goulart made a recommendation of$14,000,000 for the <br /> school budget. Motion was seconded by Mr. Cashman <br /> Vote: Unanimous -o. <br /> Mr.Morgan abstained. <br /> Mr. Arden noted that his rationale for the above figure was the removal of the Guidance <br /> Director. Mrs. Goulart agreed with Mr.Arden. <br /> Motion for School CItal Budget. <br /> Mr. Arnold made a recommendation that the Finance <br /> Committee approve$83,000 for the School Capital <br /> Budget. Motion was seconded by Mr. Sheehan. <br /> Vote: Unanimous -o. <br /> Mr.Morgan abstained. <br /> Mr.Morgan noted that he is abstaining from voting on issues with the school. This is based <br /> on the fact that within the last couple of days,he has received a contract from the school to do <br /> some special education transportation. Mr.Morgan stated he discussed this with an Attorney, <br /> who recommended that it would be best for every one if he abstain frorn voting. <br /> FINANCE COMMITTEE <br /> OMNIBUS REVIEW, FISCAL YEAR 2001: <br /> The Finance Committee reviewed the Fiscal Year 2001 Omnibus and made <br /> recommendations. <br /> For pertinent discussion and/or comments on various department budgets,please see below: <br /> Town Clerk <br /> There was discussion concerning the cost of hiring a service to do the shredding rather than <br /> the purchase of a shredder. <br /> Motion to Reduce Town Clerk Expense: <br /> Mr. Arnold made a motion to reduce the Town Cleric Expense <br /> Budget by the amount of the purchase of the shredder--$2,700. <br /> Motion seconded by Mr. Sheehan. <br /> After discussion concerning the purchase vs. renting,a vote was <br /> taken. <br />
