MASH EE FINANCE COMMITTEE MINUTES JOINT MEETING WITH BOARD of SELECTMEN MOND",,,, MA CH 19, 2001 Present Finance committee, Dean-Arden: Carlton Meredith, Fred Blythe ,teff Arnold. Board of Selectmen, Wayne Taylor, Ken Marsters, John cahaiane Thuckie" Green. Call to order The meeting was called to order by Dean Arden at 4:02 P.M., Meeting room #1 at the Mashpee Tern Hall on March 19, 2001. SCHOOL BUDGET discussion was held between Selectmen and the Finance Committee with respect to the total amount and the difference between the Selectmen's recommendation and the Fin corn. The Board of Selectmen were advised that the Fin Cora had changed their recommendation at the March 13t' meeting from the original recommendation of$14.9M to that which the Torn Administrator had recommended of$15.1 M. Jeff Arnold noted that there was an excessive amount in the requested Budget for energy. An increase of$97,000 over last year. He suggested that the increase ($97,000) be appropriated for the Reserve Fund and should the School Department require farther funds for energy they could cone before the Fin Com with justification. The Board of Selectmen on a Grote of 4-0 approved placing the energy increase into-the reserve fund ($97,000.) There was further discussion on the "SPED" funding. Although the amount required hias yet to be determined it was decided that "SPED"' funding will be put in as line item at the May Torn Meeting. These monies will reduce the final budget request when it is submitted. SELECTMEN Chuckie Green explained and justified hover the requested $3,000.00 was to be spent. A motion by JeffArnold and seconded by Carl Meredith to approve the amount of$3,000 for watershed education. Vote was unanimous, 4-0. r
