M <br /> Finance Committee Minutes <br /> April 1"7,2001 <br /> Page Two. <br /> DISCUSSION REGARDING TRANSFER TO DANCE COMMITTEE FOR PRINTING OF <br /> WARRANT: <br /> Jim Dorgan requested the Finance Committee's concurrence and approval to increase and transfer the sung of <br /> $L 150.00 from the contingency fund to the Finance Conn ittec's FYO I 'budget line account number 13 24. This <br /> sunt is to be used to fund the printing and preparation for wiling of the Town of llashpee Annual Meeting <br /> warrant booklet for May 7,200 1. This requirement is required to meet the Town of Mashpee Charter <br /> requirement. The increase will.fund the shortfall, which was not yet known at the F OI budget preparation <br /> process. This added cost for printing requirements and January 2001 postage increase has been programmed for <br /> the.FY02 budget. <br /> The cost of the warrant is a -follows: <br /> x <br /> Printing cost for 42 pages $3,835.00 <br /> Preparation for Mailing 375.00 <br /> Postage 952.73 <br /> TOTAL: $5,162.73 <br /> Discussion followed regarding the Charter. The Cottee agreed to revisit discussion of the charter after <br /> Town Meeting and propose to Selectmen to change it so they do not have to mail the warrant.. There are copies <br /> of the warrant available at'Town Meetin&at the'Town Clerk's ogee and in the newspaper. 1t seems a <br /> duplication of effort. An article can be put on the'Town Meeting warrant in October to change the charter. <br /> Carlton Meredith made motion to approve the transfer of$1,150.00 for printing of warrant. <br /> Maryanne Gibbs seconded. <br /> 'doted— -0—Unanimous <br /> DISCUSSION REGARDING LETTER To EDITOR N POLICEBUDGET: <br /> Chairn n Arden informed the Cottee that he would like to write a letter to the editor about the police <br /> budget. He did not agree with the article in the newspaper and would like to correct it. Discussion followed <br /> regarding whether to sena a letter to the editor or put an article with correct information in the newspaper. <br /> Jim Morgan made motion to approve Chairman Arden going ahead with comments to newspaper. <br /> Carlton Meredith seconded. <br /> Voted 4-1 <br /> Arden., Amold,M,ereditk Morgan—approved <br /> Gibbs—opposed. <br /> DISCUSStON REGARDINGARTICLE 4,. MKIN' ARTICLE: <br /> Jim Morgan said he was asked to get some support from the Filmnce Conunittee on the smoldng article. He <br /> was approached by a few businessmen and was asked to poll committee and see if they would like to take <br /> position. <br /> Jiro Morgan made notion to take a position on Article 34. <br /> There was no second;therefore,it was the consensus of the Oonuni#tee that the Finance Cornnuittee would tape <br /> no position on non-monetary articles. <br /> APPROVAL OF MINUTES: <br /> Jeff Arnold rade motion to approve tete.Minutes or the April 3,2001,Finance Committee Meeting,seconded <br /> by Carlton Meredith.
