APPROVAL OF NWq-UTES: Dean Arden made motion to approve the Minutes of the August 28,2001 Me>efing, seconded by Fred Blythe. Voted—5-0-1 -Deirdre Gre li h abstained,as she was not present at the meeting. Fred Blythe made motion to approve the Nfinutes of the August 28,2001,Executivc Session,seconded by Dean Arden. Voted— - -1 -Deirdre Creelish abstainer as she was not print at the meeting. OLD BUS ESS: 1. Appointment of Deirdre Greelish to the Finance Committee by the Board of Selden. Vice-Chair Carlton Meredith welcomed Deirdre Greelish on behalf of Chair Arnold and Committee members. He congratulated her on joining the Fiance Committee and said the members are looping forward to working with hcr. . Finalization of the Committee's position on flown Meeting Articles. Article : Funding for Senior Ccntcr architectural and engineering services for new construction or expansion. Nice-Chair Meredith stated that the Finance Committee voted not to recommend approval on Article based on the principal that it was not included in the F 20 1 budget. The Conmiittee is not against the Senior Center but members felt it should be considered at the May Town Meeting. Mr. Merton Sapers,22 fain Suet,Unit 35,Mashpe x Massachusetts was present at the meeting to speak on Article 6. He was present as a senior citizen and was interested in what is happening with the new proposed Senior Center, He wondered why the Finance Committee did not approve the article. He felt that approval should be by voters at Town Meeting and if the Finance Conwiittee could approve,it would be helpful to seniors. Discussion followed regarding whether the Senior Center was an emergency. Fred Blythe explained that there was a Feasibility Study done and it was chosen as a priority. The plan was to go to the October Town Meeting and ask for$190,000 for engineering and have design drawn up and go through bias process then go to May Town Meeting and ask the Town to fimd the project. At that point they would have a figure of what it would cost and in the mean time can apply for any grants.
