Police Department <br /> Article 12—School Resource Officer <br /> ■ Chief Todino provided further information on the funding thisp osition, indicating that <br /> the costs for the position would be split by the police and school departments beginning <br /> January 1. <br /> ■ N1 r..Umina expressed concern about.changing the wording of the article as the grant funds , <br /> mentioned within were not received. Both agreed this chAnge could be accomplished by <br /> motion at the Town Meeting. <br /> Mr. Avis asked whether current school resource officer would continue in the position if <br /> approved. Mr. Todino answered that the current position is done part-time in addition to <br /> patrol duties and the new position would be devoted entirely to the schools. <br /> a Ms. McDonough questioned whether the schools had the funds needed; Mr. Todino <br /> confirmed the money is available. <br /> ■ Ms. McDonough also requested a report to detail prior police involvement at the schools to <br /> help justify cost at Town Meeting. Chief Todino agreed to provide information. <br /> Article 15—Police Expense Account <br /> ■ Chief Todino stated the funds would be used to send officers to instructor training. <br /> mina indicated that the Committee needed clarification on why utility costs were also <br /> included in the original version of the warrant. Chief Todino explained that portion has <br /> been removed from the article, and confirmed $14,700 as the revised amount requested of <br /> voters. <br /> ■ Ms. McDonough queried why request was presented after budgets were passed; Chief <br /> Todino stated the intention to fill needs left by the level-funding budgets required of all <br /> departments. <br /> Fire Department <br /> Article 10—Fire Prevention Inspector <br /> 0 Chief Baker provided additional information on the request for a Fire Prevention Inspector <br /> Position. <br /> a Mr. Avis asked about the frequency and regulation of inspections, and further information <br /> on the duties of this position. Chief Baker outlined the regulatory information and the job <br /> responsibilities. <br /> 0 Ms. McDonough asked if the pay is comparable with other towns; Chief Baker said yes. <br /> ■ Mr. Avis asked if the position would be filled from within the department. Chief Baker <br /> stated that would be ideal, with the replacement firefighter as a new hire. <br /> ■ Mr. Avis and Ms. Mc onoug asked about hiring a private firm for inspections. Chief <br /> Baker expressed concerns that the statutory authority of the fire department would b <br /> lacking, and that the costs associated are not available to him. <br /> Town Clerk <br /> Article 8—Part-Time Clerk <br /> 2 Ms. Dami detailed the need for clerical assistance. <br /> ■ Mr. Avis asked for clarification on hours; Ms. Rami indicated a 19 Hour week is desired. <br /> i <br />
