{ <br /> ■ <br /> s <br /> MASHIPEE FINANCE COMMITTEE <br /> MEN—"ES <br /> WEDNESDAY, JANUARY,19, 2005 <br /> Present: Chairman Gerald Umina <br /> Chris Avis, Chuck Dottridge, Leonard Lang, Iden Patrick <br /> Guests: Judie Hunter, Finance Director <br /> Hosts: George Baker-, Fire Chief <br /> Sheldon Hamblin, Deputy Fire Chief <br /> CALL To ORDER <br /> Chairman Umina called a meeting of the Finance Committee to order at 633 p.m. at the Mashpee Fire <br /> Station, Main Conference Room. <br /> Chief Baker guided the Committee on a tour of the Fire Department facility. <br /> OLD BUSINESS <br /> Budget Review <br /> Committee continued review of budgets presented for FY200 . <br /> Fire ent - <br /> Mr. Long asked if Personnel Department verified salary information presented, noting it i <br /> common practice to do so with municipal budgets. Ms. Hunter indicated both she and <br /> {Town Manager Joyce Mason had reviewed the information, but that Personnel would most <br /> likely not review salaries further due to contract negotiations. 'She noted that not all <br /> contracts have been approved, but are included in budgets based on assumption of approval. <br /> Chief Baler confined that any salary change is documented and cross-checked, and is <br /> routed through Personnel, 'Town Manager-, Treasurer and Finance Director for approval. <br /> Mr. Avis asked Chief Bakeir for clarification of vehicle repair costs. Chief Baker noted that <br /> vehicles are listed by their respective numbers, with repair costs included alongside. <br /> Mr. Patrick asked Chief Baker how much of department budget had been spent to date. <br /> Chief Baker indicated most of the budget is spent or accounted for. <br /> Chief Baker noted that accounting method used in the department is different from town <br /> method and thus year-to-date spending amounts will differ. ]mss. Hunter confirmed this, but <br /> indicated her department intends to.align accounting methods. <br /> Mr. Long discussed the benefits of using the MUNIS system for budgeting. Chief Baker <br /> stated the department does not yet use MMS. <br /> M lis. Chief Baker confirmed this <br /> had been addressed in the past, but that Falmouth was unwilling to participate. He <br />
