Correspondence: F. <br /> Correspondence to Finance Committee from the Department of Veterans' Services <br /> dated November 13, 2008 <br /> Statistical Characteristics of Revenues(from Paul Morgenstern <br /> III.Requests for'Transfer: Reserve Account Balance: One Hundred'Thousand <br /> ($100,000.00)Dollars and 00/100. A request for transfer was made by veterans' <br /> Services in the amount of'Twenty Five'Thousand Dollars ($25,00 0-00) and 00/100.vice <br /> Chairman Gasior moven to approve the transfer in the mount of Twenty Five <br /> Thousand Dollars ($25,000.00) and 00/100 t the veterans' Services. Chairman <br /> Ldsey seconded. All were in favor. No discussion. <br /> Presentation by,Sid Chase. Mr. Chase stated that here are approximately 1,71 Veterans in <br /> the Toga.of Mashpee. families of service people who were killed in action are also being <br /> provided for. Service Officers provide back up support,and the veterans' Services and <br /> visiting nurse is available for hone visits. The Veterans' Services programa, policies, and <br /> arnounts of benefits paid to Veterans,were presented to the Committee. The reimbursement <br /> process, and reimbursement amount paid back to the Town,was also presented. Reports <br /> were handed out and discussed regarding monthly expenditures and number of walk <br /> ins/appointments/incoming phone calls to veterans' Services i Fiscal 2008. In response to <br /> question from Chairman Lindsey,Mr. Chase explained that Chapter 115 is the Massachusetts <br /> General Lav that governs the benefits for the programa. Oskar Klen rt inqu* ed about the <br /> definition of a-"Veteran'% and Mr. Chase stated that a Veteran is-considered to be someone <br /> who served 180 days i-n active war time (other than training). Lynda Carroll inquired about <br /> the process and contact information for disabled veterans, and Ilex. Chase stated that the <br /> Senior Center, Police Chief, and Town have his contact information. The Veterans' Services <br /> has a booklet, and 11r.
