Fire Station u'lding Committee <br /> Minutes <br /> August 5, 1997 <br /> RESCUE UATIONEEN-ONATUN S LMY: <br /> Mr. Sweeney indicated that he reviewed the needs of the <br /> projected staffing levels of the 1 lashpee Fire&Rescue Station <br /> and presented a design concept to the Board of Selectmen <br /> for consideration. <br /> It was noted that the original design was revised-under the direction <br /> of the Selectmen to include the cost impact of a future sub-station <br /> in South Mashpee, and the effect of a sub-station as it relates to the <br /> space needs of a central fire station until the year 2020. <br /> The original design proposal contained a one-story concept that <br /> required demolition of the existing operations building. The proposed <br /> design revision is more efficient, and utilizes three levels informed <br /> Mr. Sweeney. <br /> The lover level as designed by Mr. Sweeney is proposed for <br /> storage, fitness andtraining activities. The first floor on grade, <br /> is projected for firefighter operations and administration. The second <br /> Boor is designed to include additional storage,office space, and <br /> lodging charters. <br /> Discussion followed with regards to estimated construction costs <br /> to renovate the existing 10,223 sq. t. central station. The preliminary <br /> draft architectural rendering has proposed to increase the square <br /> footage of the central station to 18,875 sq. f . for an estimated construction <br /> cost of S 1.6 million. <br /> The sung of$1,637,938 includes architectural fees,engineering fees, <br /> the clerk of the works., printing and testing. Fumiture, fixtures, and <br /> equipment have been estimated to cost$160 000. Administrative fees <br /> are projected to cost$246,000. The total estimate for phase 1 is <br /> projected to cost $2,043,938 informed Ir. Sweeney. <br /> The above figure sloes not reflect the cost of a sub-station. <br /> Mr. Sweeney has estimated the construction of a satellite station to <br /> cost$5 3 5,310 e clusWe of furnishings and equipment. <br />
