TOWN HALL- ROUTE 130
1111 MASHPEE. MASS. 02649
• r
tqg (a
PERSONNEL BOARD 4n-2327
July 24, 1980
Board of Library Trustees
Mashpee Public Library
Mashpee, Massachusetts 02649
Dear Board of Library Trustees:
We have researched your position and unfortu' ately find no/authority for
the Board of Library Trustees acting autonomous and independent of the
Personnel Board in setting salaries for the Librarian and the Library
Assistant.
However, it is the feeling of the Personnel Board that the salaries of
the Librarian and Library Assistant should be re-evaluated, as we feel
these salaries are too low. We are in agreement that the Librarian should
be paid $5.50 per hour and the Library Assistant $4.00 per hour and will
recommend these salaries subject to funds being available. I£ funds are
not available, we will recommend this at the next Town Meeting.
We hope you realize that the authority is with the Personnel Board and
we are here to be of assistance when needed. If you have any questions,
please contact our office or make an appointment to meet at one of our
regularly scheduled Board meetings.
The Personnel Board wished that all in attendance of the July 17, 1980
meeting read this letter and the attached memo from Attorney Weld as
to his research into this matter and then respond in writing.
Thank you.
Very truly yours,
tsF. Rich
Chairman of the Personnel Board
JFR/kah
• enc.
cc: Board of Selectmen'
- own Accountant
Finance Committee
