HELENE DEF E, LIBRARY DIRECTOR CHARLOTTE FAN UIL GLORIA S ELAND E RICHARD SATS SY MIMI MARSH Il MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING: The minutes of August 13, 1996 meeting were accepted as presented. III REPORTS: Library Director: Circulation for the month of August 1996 totalled 10,398 transactions. Included in that total. were 7309 adult items,, 2,860 uvenile items and 84 young adult items. Included in that toatal were 4,552 fiction, 1,43. non-fiction, 494 paperbacks, 504 periodicals, 537 cassettes and 2,732 videos. The library borrowed 216 interlibrary loan stems last month for Mashpee patrons and made 185 interlibrary loans to pagans of other .ibraries. There were 4,575 users from other Massachusetts communities and 542 loans to non-state residents. New library cards were issued to 114 borrowers, During the month, there were 6,023 patron visits made to the library in August. Fines for the month totalled $633.11. Year-to-date, 1,221.82 in fines have been collected and turned in to the Treasurer's office. The suer reading programs concluded in August with a craft might, a draw- ing exhibition by artist John woodruff and a summer reading party for chil- dren who read three books during the sumer, . Helene explained that they would do something similar to the reading program again next simmer. The pre-school story hour will start next week, Monday mornings at 10:30. Helene reported that the forms the library '.s required to submit every year for- State Aid, there were two parts, the first of which was due September 6th, was submitted a couple of weeks ago. The second part which is due early November would require the "trustees' signatures. Friends: Teri Hyde reported to Helene that the book sale had earned $136. The Friends plan to have a program a week from Thursday. The guest speaker will be a woman who j o fined the Peace Corps when she was in her 40's. Following a divorce, she returned .to school and then joined the Peace Corps.. She will share her experiences.
