HELENE DEF E, LIBRARY DIRECTOR <br /> CHARLOTTE FAN UIL <br /> GLORIA S ELAND E <br /> RICHARD SATS SY <br /> MIMI MARSH <br /> Il MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING: <br /> The minutes of August 13, 1996 meeting were accepted as presented. <br /> III REPORTS: <br /> Library Director: Circulation for the month of August 1996 totalled <br /> 10,398 transactions. Included in that total. were 7309 adult items,, 2,860 <br /> uvenile items and 84 young adult items. Included in that toatal were <br /> 4,552 fiction, 1,43. non-fiction, 494 paperbacks, 504 periodicals, 537 <br /> cassettes and 2,732 videos. <br /> The library borrowed 216 interlibrary loan stems last month for Mashpee <br /> patrons and made 185 interlibrary loans to pagans of other .ibraries. <br /> There were 4,575 users from other Massachusetts communities and 542 loans <br /> to non-state residents. New library cards were issued to 114 borrowers, <br /> During the month, there were 6,023 patron visits made to the library in <br /> August. <br /> Fines for the month totalled $633.11. Year-to-date, 1,221.82 in fines have <br /> been collected and turned in to the Treasurer's office. <br /> The suer reading programs concluded in August with a craft might, a draw- <br /> ing exhibition by artist John woodruff and a summer reading party for chil- <br /> dren who read three books during the sumer, <br /> . <br /> Helene explained that they would do something similar to the reading program <br /> again next simmer. The pre-school story hour will start next week, Monday <br /> mornings at 10:30. <br /> Helene reported that the forms the library '.s required to submit every year <br /> for- State Aid, there were two parts, the first of which was due September 6th, <br /> was submitted a couple of weeks ago. The second part which is due early <br /> November would require the "trustees' signatures. <br /> Friends: Teri Hyde reported to Helene that the book sale had earned $136. <br /> The Friends plan to have a program a week from Thursday. The guest speaker <br /> will be a woman who j o fined the Peace Corps when she was in her 40's. Following a divorce, she returned .to school and then joined the Peace Corps.. She <br /> will share her experiences. <br />
