ti LIBRARY TRUSTEES 9/14/ 99 PAGE TWO Library Building Committee: The first meeting formed a sub-committee to review proposals . of the five, it wasnaryrowed down to three, They have pretty much narrowed the field to two which they .intended to bring in for formal . interviews . It is expected they rill have an architect on board wi-thin the next month or so . The two .firms. be g iven serious consideration have extensive experience in public library expansions . They both have library- consultants on staff wh-o specialize in the design and the use of space . Children'sChi-ldren' s Librarian Report : Helene passed out copies.. of Janet Buri e ' s .monthly report dated .September 1 , 1999. Copy - attached . Helene reported to the board the numerous activities which had.. been presented for the children d-urling the month of August . ' IV OLD BUSINESS : David explained teat the buil ding committee stood at 7 mem b ers .at this time, They can have as many as 13 members . A letter o interest to the board of selectmen was all that would be required for anyone interested in becoming. a member of the library building committee . Long Range Plan: Helene -reported that it was time to prepare anoth-er - lore range plan. However , the Board of LibraryCom- missioners is permitting. yearly, updates to the..ir- long range plans . Helene passu out to the meeting ,, " ashpee Public Library FY 2000 Action Plans Service Goals and Objectivesit.$ and pointed out to .the trustees th.e items - she had added to the FY ' 99 plan, and re- viewed th-e, various items . Teri- Hyde introduced a motion on the long range plan. Carlo W Este seconded . All in favor-,, So moved . David had explained that it was hoped that within a month they would h.ave an architectural firm- in place . They would also like to form a sub-committee made up o-f the Friends of the Library to conduct th-e fund- raising activities . V NEW BUSINESS : 1 , Helene explained - that the Mashpee -Library had receivedona- tions in Charlotte Faneuil. l s memory totalling about one thousand doilr . They wanted to use if for something special . .Janet Burke, the children ' s librarian s-u ges.ted the purchase of puppets that could be circulated . There had been enough money to also purchase the puppet stage to use for puppet shows. in the library . The collection consisted of about30 puppets which can be added to in the future from regular library funds .
