Mashpcc Public Library <br /> P.O. Box 657 <br /> Mashpec, MA 02649 <br /> Circulation for the month of September 1999 totaled 9,139 items. His exceeded September 1998-by 999 <br /> items and 163 young adult items circulated during the month. During the month, 3,335 fiction. 1,288 <br /> uon-fiction. 615 paperbacks, 298 magazines. 715 audiocasse0cs, 2.308 videocassettes, 447 huge print <br /> (woks, 28 puppets and 2 ClYs circulated. 'there were 385 items borrowed from other items. The library <br /> issued cards to 67 new p,bons. There were 0.621 adult items, 2.033 juvenile libraries for Mashpee <br /> patrons, while Mashpec Library, tent out 285 items to other libraries for their p:urons. The lihrarn lent <br /> ileus to 3,530 Massachusetts residents whose primary residence is outside of Maslike. There were 248 <br /> out-of-state residents who borrowed books. P51ron visits in September totaled 5,560 <br /> Much of September was devoted to gathering information required by the Board of Library Commissioners <br /> for statistical forms that libraries must submit to be eligible for Slate Aide. Forms were completed and <br /> submitted for the annual ARIS and Neticnder transactions programs. In addition,the library's Early <br /> Childhood Mini-Grant was completed on September 30'^. A report wrapping up grant activities and <br /> expenditures was also prepared and seat to the Board of Library Commissioners. The library had to expend <br /> all remaining funds in that grant by September 30"to comply with grant requirements. We also had two <br /> pre-school open houses which were part of the grant activities and we printed up brochures and bookmarks <br /> that smnmed up types of materials added to the collection and what types of prc-school programs the <br /> library has on an on-going basis. Janet Burke will give more details of these activities in her report. <br /> Our gram program was considered very successful by the MBLC. Janet and I have been asked to do a <br /> presentation at the Weston Public Library on October 15a for libraries who will be doing Early Childhood <br /> Mini-Grants this year. We were one of three libraries asked to do a presentation. Shelly Quesada,who <br /> monitored many of these grants for the MBLC,selected ours as one of the best and requested that we <br /> participate in this orientation program. We were pleased to be asked and will be doing the presentation this <br /> Friday. <br /> Over due fines for September totaled$679.35. Year-to-date,$2,473.14 in fines has been collected and <br /> turned over to the Treasurer's office. <br />
