Building Committee Update
_ David advised that the Building Committee meeting was positive. Ann, Library Liaison, added
that the meeting was productive; the architect was challenged to cut cost and he cut $900,000 by
tightening some spaces and combining more than one function in an area. He also cut costs by
using less expensive materials for the building. The meeting room was incorporated into the
building rather than as a separate wing. There is flexibility...in the future when needed, these can
be added. Ann noted that nothing was compromised in Library Services or functions with these
cuts.
During the discussion, one thing noted is that catering kitchen is needed. This will be brought up
at tomorrow's building committee meeting. David said the bottom line is in cutting 3,,000 square
feet they shaved off$900,000.
Finally, David suggested that it would be beneficial to invite Tom O'Neil to come and address
Board of Library Trustees at one of our Future meetings.
New Business
David informed the hoard that because Mashpee Library met cern state-specified conditions we
will be receiving a state-aid stipend in the amount of$12,283.25
Meeting Schedule
• If needed...530 p.m.,Monday, December 1, 2003,Library Meeting Doom.
