+ Sheldon Gilbert Presentation <br /> - -Sheldon Gilbert, Vi0e Ch irman of the Library Building Committee, explained that he is going to <br /> groups within Town to show options that may be considered for building a new Library'and to get <br /> from the groups their feedback to enable hire to make a presentation to the Board of Selectmen <br /> next June. In June; $3.5 Million request will be presented; and if approved this funding would not <br /> change tax rate. Highlights-of Sheldon's presentation included: <br /> Cannot apply for.grant until project approved and we meet requirements of the grant <br /> offered. Sheldon'Will address topic of grant informally with Town Administrator <br /> tomorrow because he said applying would have to be done in a sequence and maybe <br /> merely filing letter o `intent is how we should proceed at this time. <br /> Current option building size would be 17,370 square feet—nothing changed. <br /> 0 Mashpee Commons has control over the outside appearance of the building, so Shelley. <br /> will beet with Buff Chace to see what their plans are. <br /> Articles will be prepared for October Town Meeting. <br /> All options proposed will have the building designed for expansion capability. <br /> ToniO'Neil has taken lead on fundraisers. <br /> Bonnie reminded everyone that the interior of the building layout is important because that <br /> will impact staffing needs. Using the old building and doing an addition would require <br /> staffing as if it were two separate buildings. The old building areas would not be visible for <br /> supervision purposes from the new addition. She stated that if open area,then fewer work <br /> stations obviously needed. <br /> Bonnie commented that they would have a connu*ttee to coordinate PR campaign.
