offered for about a year. In the meantime, Sandy Price has been keeping serials
-to-date. There are some similarities to the cataloging nodule. She has herr
able
to phone a colleague who talked her through some of the more difficult
entries. As Sandy will be leaving in the next few months, I was glad to have
another staff member receive the serials training because serials is one of the
most complicated modules.
have
completed weeding the Adult Non-Fiction and.Lauren is working with
some volunteers to shift the collection. The main point in doing the weeding and
shifting was to make space to relocate the Von-Fiction Books on Tape to the
Non-Fiction side of the aisle. This move will free up space in the Fiction
collection. All as of the Adult fiction are too tightly packed on the shelves.
This will lot me spread the fiction, Mysteries and large Print collections out, That
will lessen wear and tear on the bindings and make the collections easier for
patrons to use.
I have been working Frith the Building Committee on temporary space issues, It
has become apparent that the library will have to relocate during construction. I
am working on developing space requirements required in a temporary'location.
I've consulted with some librarians that have moved parts of their collection and
put
the bulk into storage during a construction project. The best advice I've
received is to take about 0 of the collection, other items can be borrowed
through CLADS while our items are in storage. I will probably fine tone that-a
bit, but the percentage seems reasonable.
',have started updating the library`s long Range Plan, which expires this year. A
neverp fan must be on file with the Massachusetts Board of Ubr ry Commissioners
by October. This is one of the state requirements for any library planning to
apply
for state or federal grants. This will be a priority project for-me in case the
library decides to try again for a building grant.
